considering the prevailing situation at the moment globally, i don't have to blame anyone for delivering the book quite late. however, i only read few pages and from what i have read so far, i can testify that the book is a good reference guide for anyone doing an off-grid solar installation without much technical knowledge.what i don't like about the book however, is the poor way it is produced as it started falling part from the first page i read.the pages are falling as i proceed to read which makes it very uncomfortable for me. i advise the author and his publisher to do the binding/gumming properly before sending it to customers. this is why i can't give them a 4 or 5 star right now
well for a person like myself who don’t know nothing about solar power it’s ok...lot of information but i was looking for something more straight forward..for example, if you buy 2 solar panels, inverter and battery it will give you this amount of electricity and so on...so for me it didn’t work.
i have a 5th wheel parked with panels and a generator.i was hoping this book would help with my questions. couldn't find anything to answer them. just brought up new ones.i do have a basic understanding of electricity and how it is made and how to wire it.i didn't see anything that helped with combining solar with a portable generator that helped me.don't take it the wrong way, it is good basic info. i needed specific info.
so some good information. not really any up to date info, in my opinion with a 2022 copyright date, on the newer hybrid systems. allot of technical info on solar cells, wiring, batteries, etc, but most of the info as far as completed or integrated home systems is not there or minimal. for example, one of the biggest concerns a homeowner might have is how to actually hook up a solar system into the existing power company breaker box......transfer switch ? sub panel critical load panel? or direct existing panel hook up.
this is way too difficult to understand and the complex algorithms and calculations are even beyond the comprehension of an engineer such as myself. no diagrams or illustrations. why would anyone need this information.
generic and uninformative. lacked specific details or practically useful info about building solar panels. one can find this information found in this book for free on the internet. useless purchase.
book arrived today. i looked through it and found heaps of info on electrical circuits, formulas (ohms law) and other things electrical. i studied broadcast engineering in college, so i do not need a cream of wheat review of basics. from the look inside, as well as the hoohah on the front and back cover, i expected a few projects to be presented in detail. there is zero of that presented.i recommend buying any other book on solar projects than this one.
when i open up the book, the first page that i see is the last page of the book and it is upside down.when i open up the back pages, i see the conclusion printed upside down.the book can be read if; you hold the book upside down and read it back to front.one could say this book is usd abw's.i wonder how many 1000's have been printer like this?
poorly written, and full of useless scientific detail explained by a novice. attempting to explain how silica crystals are used to manufacture solar panels. while some might be interested in knowing, it was rudimentarily and incompletly explained… but who cares anyway. i want to know about being a solar panel system. not a useful how to book.
i think there is a mistake in the diagram on the cover. the dc fuse box appears to be connected incorrectly.it is connected directly across the battery terminals.that will blow a fuse.the dc fuse should be connected between the positive battery terminal and the positive terminal of the dc to ac converter. that is an obvious mistake so it casts a shadow for me on the accuracy of anything else being stated in the book.
nothing simple about any of this book. full of equations you need a degree from mit to beginner to understand. i wanted help building a small of grid power source. book is more about how to calculate this and that and how to build a small power grid not design and wire a whole house. they have professional for that as it should be. don’t waste your money
already on page 13 there is an error regarding comparing battery one and battery two. the author mixed up which battery has which voltage.this basic error creates a lack of confidence in the book.i will be returning and hope for a full refund.
