i will say this litter box is super cute but in all areas it is impractical. all of the cracks and crevices are the perfect places for wet litter to get into and due to the shallow pan there’s not much room for error. every time we’ve cleaned it, we have to deconstruct it instead of just sliding out the pan like it suggests. because if you don’t deconstruct it you will miss litter that gets stuck. we were hoping this would be the perfect option for our cat but it only made her more stressed out and she had a really hard time pushing in the door so we inevitably took it off. overall please don’t buy this box… it’s not worth it
our cat pees standing up so we purchased this in the attempt to keep her from peeing in the walls. it helped with keeping pee off the walls but since it collapse easily the pee was leaking from the seems where it could collapse and still getting on the floor. while we did use it looking for different one it's a nice concept i like the easy access tray for cleaning. also noticed less litter on the ground since she had to jump out the top which is grated and allows the litter to fall back down. if your cat pees normally then this is a great idea.
first and foremost it does look like the photos, but it’s a bit cheaper than i was expecting, but it’s plastic so that’s my fault… coming back to update. the plastic doesn’t hold up, mine is starting to leak very badly when they pee and i can’t figure out why. i think it’s due to the plastic being so flimsy, that it just leaks through where the two pieces attach. i’m also a very clean person and clean the litter box almost every day so it’s not because it’s a built up of me not cleaning it.however mine did not come with a scooper or a brush cleaner so a bit disappointed in thati also don’t know why it shows you can hang the scooper on the side bc you can’t with mine but that’s maybe bc mine didn’t come with the one they were suppose to providephotos show the gaps in the two pieces that attach and where my paint came off due to it leaking
believe me, i tried. she has 2 litter boxes, and i just replaced her older one with this litter box she just would not open the door. i tried showing her how to push the door open multiple times a day for over a week she just refused to use it with the door on it.i even tried to get her to enter through the top but nope. didn’t use it once for a whole week, only used her other box. today i finally gave up and took the door off of it and she used it right away, but she didn't use the top exit and of course kicked litter everywhere lol. the entire reason i bought this litter box was for litter tracking, and without the door theres nothing preventing her from kicking the litter out.reading other reviews this doesn't seem to be an issue for most cats but i figured i should write a review for those of us who have smooth brained kitties lol- if you think your cat may not be able to figure out how to push open the door i would try a different litter box.giving it 3 stars because its still a super cute litter box and even though my cat wont use it with the door on it, it wasn’t a total waste as shes able to use it now fine without the door, i just have to sweep more often. it’s also easy to slide the box out to clean it and i was able to get a litter liner on it so thats a plus for me too.
we’ve had this litter box for over a year now. the cats like it and have no problem with one way door. the box itself is large but sturdy. overall it’s a good box but there are a few cons.i see one was addressed with a newer version of this box by adding the rubber strips to the sides, so the litter does not get stuck in the holes on the sides.another one is when you pull out the drawer to clean the tray it is very very difficult to do it without making mess with litter. since there are litter pebbles all over the inside crevices, when you pull out the drawer, you drag them out and always have to sweep. we have a mat too but still the litter is everywhere.but my major disappointment with this box is inability to just buy the replacement tray. after a year of use by 2 cats, it turned dark as you can see in the second picture and bleach does not help. instead of buying a brand new box every year, i would like to replace just the tray
the door is a medium heavy plastic, that my cats won't push open. they will use the box if i take the door off, but they don't use the top exit, either.
update- a new litter box arrived today so i promptly got to work removing this piece of crap and was shocked beyond words. thankfully i put plastic under it because what was left is absolutely disgusting, just rotting cat piss. so not only are my hardwood floors in my upstairs laundry room of my brand new build house destroyed and going to cost me well over $2k to fix, the entire place smells like a piss laden hoarder’s home. i cannot say this enough, do not buy this.i thought this was going to be great, but i was wrong on every level. the smell is ungodly because somehow the pee doesn’t stay in the box and sticks to the edges that are inside and then leaks out. i’ve had it for just over a month and it’s already ruined the hardwood underneath. i put down plastic so now my upstairs just stinks like cat piss and now i can’t even ask for a refund to buy a different box. do. not. buy.
i love it for the look and that it forces my cat to jump on the top. however, it's the worst litter box i've ever used. litter and pee gets behind the box because the lip of the sliding tray is not flush or secure. if it was higher, i can see there being less issues but my cats need high walls. i'm just so annoyed i paid as much as i did and i have the issue of cat pee/litter everywhere
overall i really like this liter box. i had to keep the door off though because my big male cat couldn’t quite figure it out and ended up urinating too close to walls, which then leaks between the cracks onto the floor. also, the door only works when the cat enters…they have to exit from the top, and he couldn’t really figure that out either. at least with the door off, he has more room to move around and is able to keep his business inside the box. the only problem there is that my dogs are still able to stick their heads in for the cat poop. overall it was a good purchase, but it was definitely messy until i removed the door.
i like the look and utility of the litter box design. pulling out the tray makes scooping very easy. however, my cat seems to be afraid to use the plastic door that comes with it (which is super difficult to attach on, btw). so right now, my cat only uses it if i keep the door off (which defeats of the purpose of the anti-tracking utility). i think if the door were made of something less sturdy and less noisy when it shuts, it would make it less scary for cats to use. also, the rest of the litterbox is made of a very thin flimsy plastic material so i'm curious to know how long this will last once my cat gets used to using it regularly.
my cat made a big mess with this litter box. the drawer doesn’t keep the litter in on the bottom and i had litter on my floor. and my cat was too big! he kept trying to get in through the top! it’s a little small. i returned mine and went to a pet store
i personally liked the concept of this litter box, but my cats did not. they wouldn’t always go in it all the way and would end up peeing on the floor and tonight one of them peed on my roommates bed in an act of rebellion. because as soon as i set up their old litter box he went pee in there showing that he was purposely holding it because he didn’t like this new box.
