set up was fairly simple. have only had it about a month and already have had to unplug it twice due to something that stopped working. navigating around is a bit disjointed. really not a fan of the remote - very limited functionality. i hate that the volume and mute buttons are on the side of the remote. i am constantly unintentionally hitting the mute button just by picking up the remote and the volume buttons do not function well. i often hit the volume down button and the volume will start increasing or not work at all.
this device has hardware flaws. on top of that roku’s customer service people in india think they are doing a favor by answering their customer’s questions. netflix and youtube keeps crashing. roku blames your internet speed. ease of use is a problem if you want to find your local channels which are free.
i bought this for my sister but she was not happy that setting up a free roku account not only required a birth date but also a valid payment method. i've had older roku devices for years, and i don't remember ever needing to provide a payment method. it was presumed that you’d set up your apple tv+, prime video, hulu etc. accounts separately and simply enter your credentials as necessary.she ended up nopeing out on the payment method part, and i don't blame her. it's also extremely invasive to require a birthdate in my view, when setting up a free account. so a factory reset and a refund request it is.
we don't use it often. this is in an office. after 6 months, it stopped connecting. the tv says no signal roku check if source device is connected. the company is replacing it, but i have to pay return shipping to ship old unit back. booo.
i can't recommend this item based upon the lousy remote that quit working after 14 months. this streaming stick will also freeze -up every now and then as well, and the only way to fix it is to unplug from the hdmi and wait for 30 seconds and then plug it in. my main complaint though is the worthless remote. i have to use the roku app on my phone to work the device. needless to say the phone app is the most convenient way to control my tv as well.
this is what i am finding with the 4k - wish i would have purchased a different model. i actually bought two and can't use them. bandwidth usage: streaming 4k content can consume a significant amount of bandwidth. if your internet connection is not robust enough, it could slow down other devices using the same network.network interference: if you have multiple devices connected to your wi-fi network, adding another device like a roku streaming stick 4k could potentially cause network congestion, leading to slower internet speeds for other devices.the above is what is happening to me.. so can't use them.
this was a very frustrating experience for a normal human being! 5 calls to roku-over an hour to spectrum-you better have a desktop-2 phones and a portable laprop berore you try to set this monstronsity up! not worth the time or money . just go out and buy a smart tv!
we purchased a new lightset not a returned refurbished light set. if i wanted a already used item. that is what i would have purchased i did not expect the remote to not work and to be scuffed, i also did not expect the battery to no longer work. obviously the person that purchased it before us used the item until the battery did not work period.
tried setting up this device several times on two tvs without success. solutions offered were very complicated. bought a roku stick at the same time. roku setup was easy and trouble free
since i recently bought this it has had constant issues staying connected to the wifi. each time i put the roku on i see the massage not connected and after finally getting it to work it loses signal during a movie. i even upgraded my internet. nothing else in home loses connection or lags.
i purchased the roku streaming stick 4k 6 months ago and about 4 months into the purchase the right arrow to control selection direction does not work unless angled perfectly and in this case, it is overhead and angled. all the other features work. there are no obstacles in the way to interfere with signal.
in the past 10 months, this remote has stopped working about 5 times, causing me to drop what i'm doing and figure out how to reset it. finally today it just broke, the former procedures didn't work. at all. so i have to get a new one because this is what the landlord told me i needed. another $50. it's just incredible what people will put up with when 20 years ago, tv was easy. and free.
i used this for our house in france. i then got one for my house in the us. i can’t log in with my account because it only gets the french version. it’s too hard to trouble shoot for me. i also had trouble using it on my mom’s tv that i created another account for. even with the optional dangle attachment i couldn’t get it to attach to her hdmi port that was somewhat blocked by the wall mounting bracket.. make sure you have free access to the port before buying one
this has got to be one of the worst things i bought on amazon. this is a negative 10 rating. why is it so difficult to set up? it's like a scam. first i can't get it to register. then, i search on line and roku has no customer suport number? - not that it would have made much difference.the search mechanism in this streaming craze is one of the worst user interfaces ever created. i have to peck through letters with arrow keys to type a search phrase? ugh. the firestick too leaves a lot to be desired but at least it works.it's too late for me to return this item so it is going in the garbage where it belongs.
