i would have expected much better for an expensive strip. they started off wonderful and easily configurable! but after less than a year, this strip started appearing as a different hue blue. 2 months later, it seems the blue leds on this segment are shot. the strip is setup to be all blue in the app. pretty disappointed.
the lights looks great except for the last 10 feet - the white lights look yellow. it’s too late take up all of the lights - it was a huge job laying out all of the tape strips, especially since the adhesive is firmly stuck to all of the boards i just painted black. i even plugged in the lights ahead of time as per the instructions. while i didn’t notice any deference, but then again, this section of lights was towards the end. the other colors are a bit off, but not as much as the white ones, which i use most often.unfortunately, i had to take off 2 stars because of all of the work that went into this job. otherwise, i would have given these lights 5 stars!
i hired an electrician to put these in but tested them rolled out extensively since they were going up in a cove ceiling. they worked just fine and every segment was as it should have been for a couple of hours of testing on the floor. then the electrician put them up in the cove and within a few hours there is segment that has a burned out or shorted color that messes the whole thing up. super obvious. these are likely not the best quality lights as the other reel also had a broken segment but i can't return them because i'd have to get them uninstalled. i am not happy right now so i am not going to pay an electrician $350 to take them down. stuck.edit... upgraded the review to a 5. i sent a note to the company and they could have done nothing or sent me just another string but they sent me a whole new kit. this kit works like a charm and i love the quality of the light. thanks govee. that is how you do customer service...
i purchased this to decorate my daughter's bedroom. i had tested the lights and everything worked i had them on while sticking them with no problems, i did this while my kid was away. when she got home and i turned on the lights to surprise her the end portion of the lights wasn't turning on. i tried unplugging them and changing colors with no luck. i don't know why they stopped working when they were the whole time i was setting them up. anyway, it was very upsetting to me and my kid who is on the spectrum and this was to help her calm down in her room and sleep. she is used to it now and they are very pretty, i love that she can change the colors to match her mood, it has been a communication tool.
my son began putting these up 2 days ago, it took hrs for him to get the connectors to connect w/ tearing the strip of lights and having to begin again. they look great up however.
i actually liked the product, but when i was checking the data usage of the devices in my home i was extremely shocked to find that this led strip light (labeled as shenzen) used the most data (~300gb). i use other devices plenty for video streaming, gaming, etc. this company originates from china. very suspicious. there's no reason why this lighting device needs to send so much data.
i purchased and tested many different brands of led lighting strips. i found that i liked govee led strips more than the other brands, both for their superior app, as well as the ease at integrating with wifi and google home assistant. i purchased a govee set to use in our living room as an uplight, and it worked great! i decided to purchase another set of these, but this time i would purchase the longer, 100' set, and that is where everything fell apart.the 100' set is comprised of two, hardwired sets of 50' strands. the controller is in the middle, so you cannot run a continuous 100' length. you also have to be very creative with how you run the lights, since the controller is always attached, making it more difficult to run the led strips while also trying to hide/disguise the wires.all of that was a pain, but the real issue with these is they are half as bright as the same, shorter set of govee strips. after installing my 100' govee led strips, i noticed they were not nearly as bright as my original 32.8' set. when i compared them side-by-side, i discovered the 100' set had half as many leds per foot as the 32.8' set.no where does the marketing indicate the brightness is going to be lower when you increase the length. why would they? who in their right mind says, you know what is better than this 50' led strip? a 100' led strip that is half as bright!i am returning mine.
the lights arrived deffective. a strip is not working! we found out after we placed them on the wall! i do not feel like having my husband take them down.
these don't stick at all. it was already so frustrating trying to install them at first, as they kept falling or ripping off the wall. after installing it, it had fallen at least 3-4 times already. even tried the gorilla brand putty.
typically really like govee products but i have to rate this one a miss.to start - it's not a100 ft. roll. it's two 50ft. rolls that are hardwired into the same power supply on very short leads. this means that you are not going to get 100 feet of uninterrupted lights terminating in a power supply. it means you get 50 feet of lights then have to connect the power supply to an outlet and then you get your other 50 feet. this didn't work for me and the room i wanted the lights in. would have preferred two separate 50' strings with their own discreet power supplies.i am surmising - based on the reviews reporting dimmer leds the further away you get from the power supply - that the odd power supply location is based on it being unable to sufficiently power an uninterrupted 100 foot string of leds. this is another fail - a big one - in my book.and lastly - and this was the final deal breaker - govee used less leds on this strip than other, shorter models. this resulting almost three inches of space between lights affects the uniform look of the lighting and gives each led a christmas light halo appearance. apparently, this can be mitigated by buying a second string of lights and offsetting them with the first string to provide a more uniform look but at this point you've really lost my interest.i love my govee led bulbs but i had to send unit back.
these lights have really cool chasing effects and are quite bright and dazzling. however be aware that on the 100 foot version that both rolls are hardwired to the control unit and they can not be cut. 100 foot is likely too long for most indoor uses. it would be great if you could cut sections and use extension wires to place the lights in different areas that would remain synced up but this is impossible. might be better off to buy multiple smaller strips than this one extra long one for that reason.
love the lights but upon opening box realized they were 2 rolls of 50ft thought i could cut and use connectors to combine together to make 100ft in one direction has anyone else done this tia.
i have no clue if i am the unlucky winner of getting the worst set of led’s that this company has to offer or if this is normal. i have the 100ft led lights and i can tell you right now i have to look for a replacement set these suck horribly not only the farther you get from the power source the weaker the led become but they’re colors are not even the same i have the lights set to white and on the left side of the room everything is blue and on the right sight it’s green tinted i am extremely disappointed in these lights and i just wasted my afternoon puttting these up exactly how instructed for not reason and now i have to take them off i have a set of govee lights in my bedroom and they are extremely bright and 10/10 but these right here i would have never bought in the first place if i knew they would be this bad
i love the fact that they work(ed) with alexa. my cat got a hold of these lights and it was all over though. these are cheaply made and very flimsy and you will be able to tell. amazing for effects but keep these out of reach from children and pets. not good quality. spend a bit more and get hue strips since they are so much stronger and durable. there is a reason they’re more expensive. highly recommend if you are mounting ceiling. do not let kids or pets near them.
had to purchase this one twice.. 1st purchase figured could cut and do 45° angles with connectors like every other strip lighting allows you to.. my fault for not reading the tiny print.. so fair warning.. do not cut. they will not work again. so after i wasted $75 on that 100ft, purchased 2nd roll. the frustrating part with these particular lights is the fact that they cannot be cut and connected due to the chip technology.. it is a pain to do corners with.. by making the covering thickness thinner it will be easier to curve or ribbon the strip at every corner. for one it ain't that easy, and two.. can't cover that area in a track with cover.. so can be an eyesore. okay that's the negative.. positive side the lighting is vibrant.. the colors can be deep and dark as you want to actual led bulb white. the app for lighting shows.. my kid can't get enough of and being able to create your own lighting effects makes it that much better.. overall i do wish the 100ft came as 2 separate rolls.. since they cant be cut it is a pain to find continuous 100ft of area to place them.. but the lights when up and running was worth the issues.
they spliced several areas and none of the lights match in brightness or even color. now they are stuck ton the ceiling and im supposed to send back for new ones? lol
i have used previous version of govee rgb lights and good thing in previous was controller were detachable.i installed one h618e 65ft in my son bedroom. controller was solved to led strips going each direction about 33 ft length. if you install at ceiling, there is about 1-1.5 feet distance of controller from strips so it has to be sticked some where on wall (vs i was able to extend previous versions). well lights in my son room is working fine.. my wife liked it so i bought two more to install in master bedroom which is twice as size so bought two 65feet roles.. tested them and installed one roll.. lights didn’t work after installation… first some segments were working and then everything stopped except one side about 4-5 leds were on.. tried resetting controller ( removing from app etc) and adding back. app shows all operations successfull but nothing is turning on except about 5 leds in light blue color.. turning off from controller or changing color not working so it appears most likely controllernow i wasted almost 3 hours sticking these .. what can i do, can’t change controller if it is bad since controller is permanently attchaed… how dono return? taking off the whole strip and packing them with open sticky side? how would i pack it? very bad experience, submitted a trouble ticket with govee but no response yet…i wish if there is way to fix it without taking them which will be a pain
