bought this for my son, a few uses later and the button popped off and was unable to use the son lid anymore. did receive a credit to use to buy additional cap from the company. received a second owala cup as a gift super excited, only a few uses and same thing, button popped off and now unable to shut the lid. too much money to spend on a defective product, other cups out there just as good that last more than a few uses!! disappointed, was really excited to love this product!
i love the sip or swig features that this water bottle has. because the water stays cold all day and with the straw feature i find myself drinking more than i usually do.my one major complaint is that the button started popping off shortly after i got it. it was easy enough to put back in the beginning but it’s been happening more frequently. recently the spring has been coming off as well. one of these days it’s going to fly off somewhere where i won’t be able to find it or get it back.unfortunately i can’t return the bottle because i’m located outside of the us. disappointing.
i love the mouthfeel (weird, but accurate) of the straw. it keeps water cold for plenty long enough. but that's where the good ends...the lid is not great. the button is hard to push and top is difficult to close. the handle gets in the way constantly and is better off removed.does not fit in any cup holders.worst part is the lid will break. look at other low-star reviews about buttons flying off or buying entirely new lids because owala doesn't stock the gasket parts separately. the plastic of my lid broke after 2 weeks and warranty people denied my claim. new lid is only $7 but really? it should last longer than a month. good bottle but durability is terrible.
my son loves these but this is the second one that has broken within a period of a few months. the mechanism to open /close the bottle just stops working. i reached out to the manufacturer but i can’t recommend buying these. usually i buy one new water bottle each year for my son and now i’ll have spent upwards of $60 on two broken water bottles.
i bought 2 of them., they're great.but the quality of the cap is bad.both broke in different places, and owala won't ship a replacment as it was an international shipping, even though i offered to pay the shipping cost.disappointing.
lid button for the owala lid broke. it was powered by a spring but it completely came off. didn't last longer than a month.we were able to reassemble the button but literally everytime we push the button to open the lid, it springs out. really wish i bought one in person at target instead of online to see if it was defective and now the return window is closed. :/
update: the claim i filled with owalla - it took them a few days to review my case, but they sent me a voucher so i can re-order a new lid for this water bottle. let’s see how long it lasts! giving it 2/5 since i’m a little reluctant to believe this lid is going to last longer than the first one i had…——-the button that keeps the top sealed tight literally popped off after short of a month of use. i wanted a sturdy, non-leaking bottle that i can take to work/gym and this is what happens after less than a month's use?? highly do not recommend if this is the quality of a product that costs a lot. additionally, it also broke after amazon's return window closed so now i just have a broken bottle that is unusable and have to wait for the owala service team to get back to me... really disappointed with the poor quality of this pricey water bottle i was really stoked to use.
the size seems bigger than the amazon description of 3.24” and didn’t fit in my cupholder. it only went 1/3 of the way down and was very unstable in the car, so i returned. i have an older bottle from another brand, which is 3.25” and goes about 75% down in the cup, so i assumed this owala would fit because it was supposed to be smaller. but it’s actually visibly a little wider than my old one. i never used it, so i can’t comment on any of the features. i think i would have really liked the straw and chug in one. my gf has ones and loves it.
decided to deal with the crack in the straw and when i went on amazon to make a return, i was 5 days past the return window. disappointed but it can be replaced.
this is a great water bottle. i bought the 40 ounce. i had only used it for two days and the button that you open and lock the lid came off along with the spring it was attached to. you can by extra buttons for about $7 or a whole new top for $10 but why bother if it breaks again. the concept is great with the straw on the inside and i think it keeps things colder than my other bottle. i love it but i’m sending it back .
it keeps drinks cold. however, as one person mentioned, the bottle is a little big and does not completely fit inside the car cup holder.also, i have only had the bottle a little more than one month and the plastic piece on the underside of the cap cracked while inserting the straw and i am outside of the return window. very disappointing considering the price of this bottle. i do not recommend.
literally just got my bottle yesterday. i have a desk job (so i assure you bo rough usage) and i like a good bottle to keep water in my car for the drive home. this bottle was to replace my stanley and on my first full day of using it the button popped off! a spring went flying somewhere i could not find it but now this bottle is useless. i thought of replacing it or reaching out to owala for their warranty but i think im just gonna be done with owalas. back to stanley i guess.
$52 for a water bottle is far too much. gave my granddaughter permission to buy and didn't investigate until later. returned immediately and there is a $6 ups charge to drop off at ups and an additional shipping charge. i didn't pay shipping to get it to me why back? and all my packages get dropped off for $0 charge. this business is making it expensive to buy and change your mind. my fault but they are definitely taking advantage charging $25 more than its normally sold for
i gave it a two star because it does keep the beverage cold. it is messy because if it lays down and you oil it up to open it the beverage gets into the lid/opening and drips all over you. i unfortunately missed the return date and i’m upset because it cost $32.00. therefore i do not recommend this item
i have had this bottle for just about a year now. this is my second owala bottle because i absolutely loved the leak-proof design, the straw/sip feature ( especially the fact that the mouthpiece could be covered as opposed to a stanley). however… a few months ago i started to notice some black spots around the rubber lid free sip spout gasket.i was pretty alarmed to see mold on this water bottle i sip on constantly. i have cleaned this bottle based on the owala guidelines. however, the moldy patches appear in the same areas. my theory is the wear and tear of closing and opening the lid makes little cuts on the rubber over time and it’s practically impossible to clean it out entirely.after looking at other reviews, it does appear others have this same problem.owala sells this replacement part “replacement freesip spout gasket” for $1.99 but it is currently out of stock. amazon has an owala compatible replacement on sale for $4.99 (2ct).i will be purchasing this replacement and seeing how long it lasts.overall i have loved my bottle, but this is a significant downside. just something to be aware of when making this purchase.
update: owala declined their lifetime warranty.went to open the bottle after only 4 months of use and the lid snapped off from the force. disappointed owala does not seem to sell replacement lids. just submitted for a warranty replacement. i’ll update this if my claim is successful.
i bought this water bottle in january and i loved it. the built in straw feature was great. but a few months ago, the button latch flew off. i was able to reattach it to the spring so i hoped it was fixed. it started flying off or coming apart every time i used it. finally, one day i went to take a drink while driving and the button flew off. i searched everywhere in my car and was unable to find it. i filed a warranty claim with owala which was accepted. it took weeks for them to email me a voucher for a new lid. when i tried to order a new lid, they no longer carried the lid that went with my bottle. i found another lid, but it was out of stock. every lid was out of stock except for black and white ones! i signed up to be notified when the lid i chose would be back in stock. that was weeks ago and i’m still waiting. i’m leery of buying another owala product but am willing to continue using my bottle with a new lid to see if it lasts longer. customer service should make sure they fix the issue with the lids or keep more replacement lids in stock. i’m very disappointed with the product and owala’s customer service.
