i invested in this one thinking the solar panels would work better than previous ones i’ve owned. unfortunately it doesn’t charge very well using the sunlight and could take a whole day to even get 3 bars of charge. i was only able to charge my phone 1 and a half times with it. i suppose it got the job done but wasn’t everything i wanted out of it.
the pictures tell the story. when i went to find out about the warranty there was none listed. it is only plastic clips that hold it together. just not worth the money.
first of all, 5 stars for super quick customer service... but thats about all i can say thats good.as soon as i received this battery/solar pack, i wanted to start testing it with my phone. i have a galaxy with a 4500 mah battery. this battery is listed at 25000 mah. i know the real life capacity of these batteries is usually less than whats listed, but i still expected to be able to charge my phone at least 4, maybe 5 times.to test, i fully charged the power bank from the wall. then, i ran my phone down to 15%, and charge it. i was able to get 2 full charges, and a 3rd charge from 15% to 40% from one full power bank. i repeated the experiment 3 times, and got similar results each time. i'm no expert in electronics, but 85% (from 15% charge to 100%) is only 3825 mah. the third charge (from 15 to 40) is 1575 mah. this means i was able to squeeze 9000 to 9500 mah out of their 25000 mah battery. i was very disappointed, because i have a regular 10000 mah power bank and can get 2 charges from 15% to 100% out of it before re-charging. the charge from this power bank was also very slow (over 2 hours), but that was something i could live with.i contacted the company, and received a response within 15 minutes. the explanation that they offered was that due to energy conversions, and cable loss, the 'real' capacity is 18500 mah. this meant i was still only getting half of the 'real' capacity of the battery. they immediately offered a full refund if i wasn't happy. even with the loss, i would expect that it could charge my phone at least 4 full times, or very close. i replied that i would be happy with a replacement if they thought their battery could perform better. instead they went ahead and issued a refund (within 2 hours) and told me to handle ordering a new one myself.even if i had exceptionally low expectations, i couldn't recommend this battery/solar panel. the unit is heavy, and quite large. much heavier and larger than the 10000 mah power bank (without solar panels) that i have now, but it only performs nominally better than my existing power bank. i didn't even get around to trying the solar panels before i gave up. i really wanted to like this, but its just not worth the extra weight to carry in my back pack.
this was an awful purchase. probably the worst amazon purchase to date. the power bank doesn't work at all. i read the other reviews and thought it was operator error. i had this device 2 weeks before we went camping and charged it to full capacity before we left. i wanted to use it to recharge 2 phones and my kindle paperwhite during a 4 day camping trip. the info for the device made me think it would have no problem doing this. however, the powerbank doesn't hold a full charge for more than a few days on its own. and the solar charging takes 6 days to get the device back to full based on another reviewer who ran the numbers. based on the description, i thought there would be no problem for this solar charger with power bank to keep those 3 devices working. however we quickly found out, that even though it was 100% full when we left for our trip, the device didn't hold much power and never worked after the sun went down. what it was able to do was directly charge a single phone about 50% if the solar panel was directly in the sun and we left it for 4-6 hours. and in order to do this, it had to be in direct sun for a hour or so without being connected to anything else. dont waste your money!!!! because of the battery, shipping is expensive enough i wont try to return it. i reached out to the company based on the faulty advertisement that this has a power bank as well as solar charging and have heard nothing. i wished i would have listened to the negative reviews, i have no idea how this has any positive reviews at all.
everything appears to work well with the unit. however, the battery only has enough power to charge my phone once. after that the unit dies and requires recharge. i’ve tried this multiple time to test the unit. it is possible this is due to a faulty lithium cell (a common occurrence in chinese batteries), but i could not reach anyone from their customer service dept so i am stuck with a poor/non functioning unit. you may have better luck. unfortunately mine charges less than a small gas station battery pack. not worth the weight
here’s what i don’t get. this battery claims to have 25,000 mah of energy storage. the iphone 12 pro batter has 2,800 mah of energy storage.so simple math: this thing should be able to charge my iphone 8.9 times.but can it?no.it can charge my iphone 3 times. so what the heck?also, leaving the solar panels in direct sunlight for 4 hours will add about 20% to its charge indicators. that’s not great.oh, and if you leave it in the sun and connect your phone, it will eventually stop charging your phone. i even put my phone in the shade to keep it cool. not sure why it stopped.i don’t know what’s wrong with this thing, but it’s not a great battery and solar charger.
update: now a solar panel is just warping on its own.no one from the company contacted me to resolve the issue. not happy about their customer service.the charge port stopped working and i have emailed them twice for a resolution but there is no one responding. i would not recommend this product.
one of the panels is coming off. i've emailed them about the warranty, but they have not responded. i hope they can get back to me and resolve this or this review stays.
worked great untill i charged it in the sun. now it won't charge anything. the light still works but that's it. unable to find a way to contact the seller so looks like i'm out another charger pack.
i have had this charger for a little over a year. did not use it too much, but it completely stopped charging. i cannot get it to work and cannot find customer service to answer questions. was a great product when it worked.
i've been traveling a lot lately so my wife gave me this unit to help make my nights easier.very disappointed! takes 2+ days to charge with solar. after just a few months the battery swelled up and popped the main solar panel off. unit no longer works at all.i can't even find a phone number to see if they will replace it or if i can purchase a new battery.do not waste your money on these cheap units!!
