this water bottle only lasted 7 months before the top broke. if the cap breaks, it is not covered by the warranty. owala will claim that based on their significant testing, they know with certainty that a damaged cap can only happen if dropped and drops are not covered. since these are highly marketed to kids and athletes, why would the cap be so susceptible to breaking from being dropped? mine was not dropped and the cap came out of the dishwasher and then broke when i was screwing it on. i expected either a better quality cap or a better product warranty for the price of the bottle. can’t really use it without a cap.
i bought one of the water bottles. within a month it broke. amazon replaced it with another. 5 months later now the replacement broke. amazon is refusing to provide a refund. don’t buy!!
i would not recommend this water bottle at all. the inside of ours started to rust after a short period of time. we reached out to owala about the issue and their response was, go purchase some rust remover! pretty sure rust in my water is a health issue. stay away from this one!
i loved this water bottle when it worked. i liked how you could either sip it with the straw feature or tip it to drink from it like a regular bottle. it kept drinks and ice cold for a very long time. i especially liked that the cap was able to be closed over the drinking spout to keep it clean, unlike other popular water bottle styles with open straws.i bought it near the end of november 2023, but in august 2024, i pushed the button to open the cap and the whole cap popped off. there are springs underneath to help it flip open and two little knobs on the sides that are supposed to keep the cap on the lid. one of the side knobs had broken off and was stuck inside the lid. i tried to line up the springs and put the side knob back into place, but cap will no longer stay on and it can't be carried by the handle since it is connected to the cap. i contacted the company who says they have a lifetime warranty and was told the cap/lid is not covered under the warranty. i am really bummed since for the last 9 months this had been my favorite water bottle ever. guess i will have to try a different brand and see if it is more durable.
as other users have noted, top broke after about a year of fairly light use. not worth the premium.update: tried to file a warranty claim but was informed that they won’t stand behind the product as i must have dropped or misused it (note: i did neither). deeply disappointing response that stands in stark contrast to my experience with hydroflask which has great customer service and promptly shipped me a new top when the gasket on my coffee mug failed.
owala has a warranty but refused to honor it saying that there must have been signifiant force used to break it. i've never abused/dropped it ever... but isn't a dropped bottle expected every once in a while without it breaking? i've had 2 lids break, but different issues. just check online comments about similar issues.
the concept of a dual capability container for drinking and sipping is simple and thought the workmanship and warranty would withstand daily use but it simply does not.less than 60 days ago i purchased three owala bottles(2x24oz and 1x16oz for my daughter) and two have had the button that opens the lid pop loose with no way to securely reattach to make functional again. i called their warranty claims line and was told 3 weeks to review my claim?! wow.you are better off to buy a stanley or contigo and i will now be disposing of $140+ worth of failed water bottles.….say it out loud, $140 for water bottles and ‘accessories’.i’d give zero stars for not living up to its purpose- securing my water to drink when needed. they are nothing more than a cup with a broken lid now.
i purchased both the 24oz and 32 oz tumblers. the silicone parts in both lids had this awful unbearable smell that even affected the taste of my water. i emailed owala's customer service, and they gave me the most ridiculous suggestions, so 1 star for owala's customer service. one suggestion given was to put newspaper in my tumbler. what?!?!?! i searched online for alternate solutions. i tried everything from soaking the silicone parts in white vinegar, cleaning them with baking soda and lemon and etc. none of them worked. finally, i read a post that suggested putting the silicone parts in the oven for 20 minutes at 320 f. this reduced the smell, but it was still there. i basically did 3 rounds of 20 minutes in the oven..and finally, the awful smell was gone. i don't think we should go to these lengths to try to get the awful smell out of the silicone parts. good quality silicone shouldn't have this awful chemical smell/taste, right? ...so while the design/functionality of the tumbler itself is excellent, i question the materials used to make this tumbler....
i liked the idea of this water bottle. i took several washed to get rid of the smell and taste. the bottle slipped out of my hand and to cap broke instantly rendering it useless. disappointing waste of 40 bucks.disappointing customer service. i’ve had many water bottles over the years and surprised how easy this broke, this lasted 30 days and owala is fine with that
i bought into the hype and got this water bottle. the first thing i noticed was when i drink the lid smells of mint, and i hate that smell. others smell it too, and its not just me. i reached out to owala and they basically said they can't do anything but wash it. i have washed it multiple times and it still smells. for me, the poor customer service and product quality is poor, it just doesn't seem like a 30 dollar bottle to me.
the spring loaded button that holds the lid on broke literally within 24 hours. it doesn’t seat correctly despite multiple attempts to fix it. i sent a message via the owala warranty website but have received no information or reply. i have it taped on so it doesn’t shoot across the room. i’m pretty disappointed because the bottle works pretty well otherwise. keeps drinks cold and i like the sipping options.
originally, i loved my owala water bottle. it kept my drinks cold, had fantastic colors and a really cool lid! however, after nearly a year of use, the problems started to arise. first, tell me why my water be tasting like sewer lines some days?? granted, some times it would sit for a couple of days, but even after a fine wash it would still reek a little. also, i’ve had to make 2 warranty claims for a new lid, with my button breaking off first, and now the entire handle and lid just disintegrated! for this second warranty claim, owala has no lids in stock, so now i have a non-functional water bottle collecting dust in my house. it’s a great deal at first, but when the poor workmanship starts to shine you realize you got duped.
my handle started falling out and i couldn’t figure out why. finally i saw the inside little circle piece had cracked even though the rest was fine. there was no dropping or trauma to it. i wrote customer service thinking “oh they seem so nice i’m sure they’ll help out with the warranty coverage”. wrong. they told me i needed to submit a full claim. so i spent time doing that. i sent pictures in and the bottle number, proof of purchase etc. eventually hearing back from them they said it not covered under warranty. it hasn’t even been a full year using this bottle. their marketing is good and it seems they do a good job keeping the disappointed customer hidden.
i purchased this in may, but didn't take out of the box until july, when i was about to travel. that was a mistake. i am very dissapointed, since the lid is misaligned and won't stay on. worthless. i complained about it, but heard nothing back. won't buy from this brand again.
i had the bottle for 3 months and the button keeps popping off the lid. contacted owala and they gave me $13 of credit to buy a new lid. my bottle color lid is no longer available (after 3 months?) but ok i can somewhat understand this. i follow the link they sent me and 16 of the 18 bottle lids are out of stock. i can get all black or all white. forget about trying to match the color scheme of the bottle i bought. i asked for a total new bottle so i can have a matching color scheme and they basically kept repeating the limited warranty only covers a lid. i asked to be escalated to the next level up to push my case and they stopped responding altogether.
update: owala declined their lifetime warranty.went to open the bottle after only 4 months of use and the lid snapped off from the force. disappointed owala does not seem to sell replacement lids. just submitted for a warranty replacement. i’ll update this if my claim is successful.
after about 2 month of using this water bottle and loving it the top snapped and now it won’t stay closed or open right. it says on the leaks website that you can get a replacement part if it breaks because it shouldn’t but when i emailed they basically told me there is nothing they can do for me and told me to buy a new top. this is unacceptable a 35 dollar water bottle should easily last for more then 2 months. the value of this water bottle is not worth the price and i am extremely disappointed.
i bought this water bottle in january and i loved it. the built in straw feature was great. but a few months ago, the button latch flew off. i was able to reattach it to the spring so i hoped it was fixed. it started flying off or coming apart every time i used it. finally, one day i went to take a drink while driving and the button flew off. i searched everywhere in my car and was unable to find it. i filed a warranty claim with owala which was accepted. it took weeks for them to email me a voucher for a new lid. when i tried to order a new lid, they no longer carried the lid that went with my bottle. i found another lid, but it was out of stock. every lid was out of stock except for black and white ones! i signed up to be notified when the lid i chose would be back in stock. that was weeks ago and i’m still waiting. i’m leery of buying another owala product but am willing to continue using my bottle with a new lid to see if it lasts longer. customer service should make sure they fix the issue with the lids or keep more replacement lids in stock. i’m very disappointed with the product and owala’s customer service.
bought two (one white and one grey) in dec 2023. by july 2024, the lid lock button for the grey started popping off. amazon directs me to engage directly with owala, which is annoying. up until now, great experience.
whole cap came apart after 2 months. no response from customer service after sending picture of proof of purchase and picture of broken plastic pin.had received this bottle as a gift. absolutely loved its feature of being able to use a straw or just gulp. i normally carry it in a bag but was going for a walk and had been carrying with handle when it broke. i guess do not carry by handle. you’ll be fine.read on their website about how they stand by their product…. blah blah blah. sent pictures and proof of purchase. not one response.
