ice maker was good for the first year. only complaint would be the cleaning. even doing the weekly cleaning (as recommended) still parts are hard to clean. and take a lot of work and tools to get into crevices.unfortunately, this product literally lasted until 3 days past the warranty and i started having problems. called customer service and was told too bad nothing can be done past the warranty date. if i wanted to fix it myself, i could purchase parts through their parts department. if you need this product for only a year. highly recommended.
if you want a product that doesn’t work and a company that doesn’t stand behind their warranty this is the one for you!!i received this product on the night monday july 15th, and by the morning of july 17th the item was no longer working. i followed instructions, tried to troubleshoot on my own and still not working. the function that sucks up the water to make the ice is defective.i reached out customer support for this company and was told to “ run vinegar through it” proving they didn’t even read my initial email. after again explaining the issue i was met with “ just go through amazon for a refund or replacement.”so i have done that but i want to save everyone the trouble of buying this product and potentially dealing with this company.
i don’t recommend this ice maker unless you like paying over $100 for a machine that lasts only six months. i’ve cleaned this machine weekly using the self-clean function with white vinegar. a couple of weeks ago, i noticed mold was building up in the top back portion where the prongs cool down. with no luck, i’ve used multiple small cleaning brushes to clean this area. when i sent the pictures and my concerns to the manufacturer, they dismissed my email. they sent a generic response explaining that the only way to clean their product was to completely disassemble the ice maker by removing the hardware holding it together. i mention this because this is not in the instructions and is no easy task for regular cleaning. if you don’t mind paying over $100 for ice cubes every six months, then be my guest.
this is the second ice maker i've had; the original one stopped making ice after several months, and this is the machine they replaced it with. i am extremely vigilant with the care and cleaning of this ice maker. i use the self-cleaning option once a week, and every six weeks, i run the self-cleaning cycle with a mild vinegar and water solution as per the company's recommendation (allowing 2-3 full cycles of ice making and discarding the ice before use). i only use filtered water and ensure proper ventilation on all sides.despite my diligent maintenance, i was shocked to wake up this past weekend to find the ice covered in black chunks of debris. the water reservoir was filled with black particles and dirt-like substances. the sides where the water flows were coated in a brown, scum-like substance, and it appears that a piece within the mechanism is rusting and leaking rust water, which is likely contributing to these issues.in the images, you can see that i removed the small filter piece in the bottom corner, and dirt and grime particles were present inside that waterway as well. i have no idea how this could have happened so quickly. when i contacted the company, they told me the warranty only covers from the original purchase date, despite the replacement machine being used for a shorter period. i understand that this policy might apply in typical situations, but when it comes to the health of your customers, it should be a priority.the company also instructed me to take apart the machine and open the side panel to check for mold or scale buildup in the water pipe. if this is a known issue, why aren't there instructions included in the cleaning and maintenance guide to help customers avoid reaching this point? additionally, it seems unwise to instruct customers to take apart electronics, especially those that contain water.no matter how much i clean this machine, i can never use it again because i am disgusted by this experience. since they won't give me a refund or replacement, i bought a new ice maker from costco.at least costco understands the importance of customer satisfaction and the potential health risks. they offer a hassle-free return policy, so if anything happens with my new frigidaire self-cleaning bullet ice maker, which was $79.99, costco will take it back with no questions asked. they value their customers and understand that the health, safety, and satisfaction of their customers are the top priorities. also, frigidaire is a trusted appliance company.
it lasted for almost a year and a half. i never did the self cleaning with just water. i also have pretty small hands so i was able to clean certain parts most people wouldn’t. now the “add water” light is on and it won’t turn off so i can’t do anything. costumer service is non existent.
i got one and 5 months later unit broke. i contact the manufacturer very nice representative and replace with another unit. 2 months later the replacement just stop making ice! i contact the manufacture and ask for a picture of the serial number 2 weeks later and no answer from them! hopefully they either send another unit o the company give me my money back. i will keep you post today is jul 8 2024.
the first one had to be replaced because it never worked. wouldn't even get cold.great customer service though, sent out a replacement right away.second one worked fine. ice was made in 9 minutes, as advertised. followed the directions, tossed the first few batches and then used the next.it took a few more for the ice to thicken up but it got there. is it the same quality as freezer ice? no, but it is good enough if your ice maker in your freezer or fridge breaks.also, it won't keep a family happy but for a couple of people it would work.the ice won't stay, it melts and remakes continuously so don't expect the tray to stay full of solid ice. but once you use some it goes to work and soon replenishes the bin.on longevity, hum, mine is now rattling like crazy when it pushes water to the freezing tines. i think the pump is going out. unfortunately the warranty is out so...beware.i will keep it as a backup as my freezer ice maker magically began working after 4 years of not...have no idea and don't care how, haha, i have ice, i am happy.do i recommend, yes, would i buy again? maybe, but i would go with a larger model that actually maintains the frozen ice once made.
the machine officially stopped working one year and one month in. the warranty is good for one year so the seller said there is nothing they could do.around month 9, the “ice full” sensor started malfunctioning so the shovel broke from the weight of the extra ice it kept producing. the company replaced the shovel because it was still within the year. recently, the “add water” sensor stopped working so it won’t make any ice because it senses there is no water. since it’s after one year now, there is nothing i can do so it is trash.
i purchased the ice maker and was happy with it for about a year. then, a month or two after the warranty ran out, it quit. i had cleaned it multiple times during the year, making sure the fan was free of dust, etc. i contacted the manufacturer and hoped they could help me trouble shoot. they really could not provide any solutions. they offered me a $10 toward a new purchase, but i felt like i would not want to purchase a new one if they only lasted a year, so i declined.to make matters worse, now i had to trash the ice maker. because it has refrigerant in it, i could not recycle it. i had to make a trip to the dump and pay $25.01 to leave it there.it would be a great little tool if it would last a few years, but one year is just not enough due to the cost of the item and the cost of disposal.
water plug doesn't stay in the drain any longer so i can’t use it as the water does t stay in anymore. i need a new plug or a whole new machine and ive only had this about 2 months. not happy.
i ordered the black unit 3x. 1st unit lasted 9mths which was longer than any unit i've owned used at least 12 hrs /day. 2nd unit was a replacement as the 1st hadn't lived up to it's 1 yr warranty. had to send it back as the fill water sensor didn't work manufacturer could not guarantee that other sensors might be faulty. additionally ,the first batch of ice was clear, weak melted quickly. 3rd unit was just as defective had the same issues as the 2nd unit .have to keep as amazon won't replace. hope it will live for awhile as i don't want to take a risk that the same defective lot will be sent. i have been through 6 units this has been the best but none live up to the 2-4 yr life expectancy advertised online.can't live w/o an ice maker.this silon was the best i ever puchased so i stuck w/the brand. now i don't know what to think!!!!!
dislike quit after three months and trying to return was impossible for all they wanted you to do and everytime i done what they asked they wanted something else needless to say i never got a replacement even though i had a warranty
good while it lasted…. might be considered a bit loud, but i haven’t had anything to compare it to- yet. will have to purchase another. only lasted 1 yr 4 mo before it stopped drawing water from the reservoir. limited warranty one year.
this ice maker was perfect for the first two months (besides being slightly loud), then began leaking water at the seam. it constantly leaks now. it’s been cleaned weekly, drained, etc and still leaks when it’s on. i’ve contacted the seller and have gotten no response. disappointed.
this ice maker was loud took to long to make ice. idk if i was sent a bad one or what, but i’m not happy about this at all. black pieces of idk what was coming from the ice maker after 1mnth. cleaned it and it still continued until it died yesterday. 5/17/2024 smdh!not a good product at all. wish i would’ve gotten warranty.
