i bought this ice maker in march of 2023, by july of 2024 it doesn't make ice anymore. a $100 ice maker should last more than a year. the return period ended in april of 2024, so i have no alternative but to buy another one. disappointed.
i don’t recommend this ice maker unless you like paying over $100 for a machine that lasts only six months. i’ve cleaned this machine weekly using the self-clean function with white vinegar. a couple of weeks ago, i noticed mold was building up in the top back portion where the prongs cool down. with no luck, i’ve used multiple small cleaning brushes to clean this area. when i sent the pictures and my concerns to the manufacturer, they dismissed my email. they sent a generic response explaining that the only way to clean their product was to completely disassemble the ice maker by removing the hardware holding it together. i mention this because this is not in the instructions and is no easy task for regular cleaning. if you don’t mind paying over $100 for ice cubes every six months, then be my guest.
bought this for my mom for mother’s day and was working pretty good and making ice, now six months later it won’t make any ice after 2+ hours of running. i’ve completely taken it apart after realizing i’m not gonna get a replacement, and everything looks brand new and clean like it’s supposed to. so i’m not sure what the problem is but there’s $100 down the drain.
i purchased the ice maker and was happy with it for about a year. then, a month or two after the warranty ran out, it quit. i had cleaned it multiple times during the year, making sure the fan was free of dust, etc. i contacted the manufacturer and hoped they could help me trouble shoot. they really could not provide any solutions. they offered me a $10 toward a new purchase, but i felt like i would not want to purchase a new one if they only lasted a year, so i declined.to make matters worse, now i had to trash the ice maker. because it has refrigerant in it, i could not recycle it. i had to make a trip to the dump and pay $25.01 to leave it there.it would be a great little tool if it would last a few years, but one year is just not enough due to the cost of the item and the cost of disposal.
i've had 2 of this brand. they both broke with a year. the second one yesterday. i'm replacing it with another brand. i love this machine, but it's too expensive to purchase repeatedly.
this machine was a disappointment to me. it came with good reviews, but it is very noisy and runs a long time to make the ice. it felt like i was spending more on electricity than i was on buying bags of ice from a store. it put out only a few little ice cubes after running 7 minutes. it was going to take a long time to get enough ice for one drink, let alone make enough for a small group of people. it wasn't worth the counter space, time and electricity for my husband and me.
would not recommend. highly unsatisfactory and had really high hopes for this. melts insanely quick, and not worth it. could’ve gotten a cheaper/better one i’m sure
ice maker did its job well for about 4 months. it was very well maintained for that period, however, that didn't seem to help much. a few days ago, the ice became smaller and much more brittle, it got smaller and smaller until eventually it just stopped making ice all together.taste? pretty good, we use an ro water filter, no issue there.noise? not terrible but not quiet either.will it last a year? probably not. this is likely meant to be used as an ice emergency option/special occasion. you simply can't run this around the clock or for any extended period of time.i got this on sale but still, i don't feel like i quite got my money's worth.
we absolutely loved this at first. we used it only here and there when needed. plugged it in again after a month, and leaks horribly. we have had it less than a year. paid $90, and super bummed.
the cooling fan failed after 10 months of daily use. i've since read the critical consumer reviews here – especially those reporting the same fan issue – and, without exception, customers say that customer support from the manufacturer is either non-existent or not helpful at all.prior to that, we were quite pleased with this countertop ice maker. now we've ordered a big name brand replacement from amazon for the same price, that's also made in china, but appears to be built better, looks better, and the ice is larger, plus it's backed with a large customer support network.the same cooling fan model (py-1225h12s) is currently available on amazon, so i might replace that and keep this ice maker as a backup.bottom line: i'd give this product 3-1/2 stars for performance and durability.
