the description shows that there should have been 16 pouches of water. did i get that? no!!! i received 2 quarts of water. not what i signed up for. i wanted the pouches so that they would be more light-weight and not take up so much room. i could have put in 2 quarts of water in my bags myself. i bought it because of the descriptions, and even when i received the bags it said right on the papers that came with it, that there should have been 16 pouches of water. do not buy if they are going to tell you one thing and replace it with something else. not worth it!!
so, this is ok, for the price... you probably can't expect much more. note: the backpack is tiny and not sturdy at all... it's the size of a backpack a very, very small child might use. also, the listing is misleading... for instance, you do not get 12x pouches of water... you get 8x tiny waters packaged in tiny juice box fashion... even the box you receive in the backpack says right on the outside that inside there are 12x pouches of water, but when you open said box there are 8x juice box waters. also, the listing photo and description show/state you get 2x proper particulate masks... but what you actually get is 2x of those crappy blue paper masks that cost less than 1 penny a piece. also, the “gloves” are a pair that come in those bulk boxes of 100 pairs you can get at costco or sam’s (so literally worth nothing)… and the way they’re packed with the “masks” in a flimsy cheaper-than-a-ziploc-bag, they won’t be clean or sterile when needed for use either. some of the perishable items don't have a shelf life of 5 years... i mean, they may have at one time, but not by the time you're sent the backpack. please be aware the first aid kit is a tiny, 3 in wide x 4 in tall (less than .5 in thick) pocket size joke... not a first aid kit by any stretch of the imagination. but, for the price, it's maaaaybe worth popping one in your car... however, please know this is not a proper bug out bag that's going to help you much in a real emergency... if your toddler can carry something while the rest of you carry proper bags, this may be it... also, it's definitely not going to sustain 2x people for 3x days.
only 5 year expectation. very heavy with water packets and two blocks of food. good was not eatable. mountain house is a better brand for freeze dried food.
first review ever... ordered 2 of these backpacks. received both today, both missing light sticks, gloves, dust masks, tissue, emergency communication plan. all that was in the bags were the ponchos, blankets, first aid, food and water. at least the food is up to date.
not as advertised. masks provided were three layer face mask and not n95 as advertised. whistle was a cheap flat plastic not the referee style as depicted in photo
choose this kit over others because of the value. with the wildfires in my area, i also needed the right type of mask. what i received is a joke. better off making your own kit.
decent value for the money. however, the backpack is child-sized and does not fit an adult male. the backpack is also poorly constructed and the zipper will likely fail easily. the masks included are also child-sized, poor quality, and do not cover an adult face adequately. probably going need to transfer and combine contents to another bag.
i am a single man and i thought this would be great for me so i would have more then i would need or if i had someone with me, i would already be prepared for that. i am not sure where they got their emergency survival numbers for the water and food, but they are drastically off. if this pack better then nothing? yes. will it last two people three days? no.water - all of the survival books, blogs, and videos i have read or watched suggested a minimum of 1 gallon of water a day = 128 oz. each water bags gives you 4.225oz. for a total of 50.7oz! this is not even half of your daily recommend water intake. a gallon of water weighs in at 8lbs, so test out the weight in your bag before you need it. any water is better then none, but a little pain is better then dying of thirst.food - 4800 calories for 2 people would last 2 days a piece would would break it down to 1200 calories a day per person, which is the bare minimum you need if your not doing anything.medical kit - you could probably get by with this tiny medical kit if nothing happened to you other then a scratch.bag - tiny red book bag looks fit for a 10 year old kit, not a teenage or an adult. you should be able to pick up a cheap book bag somewhere that is much bigger then this.bottom line - the food and water you can buy from this company could keep you alive (i haven't tried either one yet, but i do mean to), however, you need more then they are offering. i haven't returned mine because i am just going to add to it, starting with a bigger bag. i have a bug out bag and a 3 day vehicle bag. this info is for a 3 day vehicle bag because every pound you might have to carry if your car runs out of gas, unlike being able to store it on the shelf at home.
i was disappointed with the kit. it was displayed better than the actual product. the items are really things you can get at any store.i wished i had known before i ordered it.
the kit comes in a handy backpack. emergency gear for two....unless you both need a respirator mask. the kit advertises gear for two but only contains one mask. i purchased two kits. they arrived with ziploc fasteners, wanting to be sure of inventory i broke the seal on both kits only to discover both kits only had one mask. two of everything else. in my book these guys failed the trustworthy test. i recommend everyone unseal their packages and take inventory. your partners health may depend on it
i order quakehold! 70280 grab-n-go emergency kit for $45 but then also ordered deluxe 2-person by survivalkitsonline perfect survival kit for emergency disaster preparedness for $99 and you get so much more with that puppy. the quakehold pack is 1/4 the size and full. the survivalkitsonline pack is larger with way more pockets and has room for other items to be added. i stuffed the quake items into the survivalkitsonline pack. also added a knife sharpenter and military compass, 5-in-1 shovel, bowie knife, 150 feet of rope and cord, all-weather gloves, plus more to be added. it still has room. sure the pack tops around 40+ #'s but you have everything in it. prepare your bug-out kit bb4 you need it people!!
pretty good for an onhand emergency bag. i'd definitely suggest adding on to it though like some small tools, flashlight, and a better first aid kit. this basically comes with some band-aids. but if you live in a area without alot of natural disasters than this is great to just have on hand or in the trunck for travel.
i would have rated this higher--i think it's a great little starter kit that gathers the essentials in a convenient pack. i had been buying canned food and bottled water and keeping it in a bag, but it was bulkier and had to be replaced too often.however, the food water in the bag that i received was packed in november 2012, so it's only good until 11/17. it's still a little ways off, but advertising that it includes food with a five year shelf life doesn't really help if for all intents and purposes it only has a 3.5 year life.a relatively minor gripe, but a gripe all the same since it's not 100% as advertised. still, a solid pack at a good price, so as long as you are aware you might not get as much mileage out of the expiration date, i'd recommend picking it up.
this product makes no false statements. you get what it says. it is very much only for an emergency. the bag is small enough to make it a daily travler in any car. the first aid kit is just enough for basic cuts and such. the bag has about a 4 by 4 section to keep additional items like a multi-tool and flashlight. do not expect a large bag for survial equipment, it is a basic emergency kit.
