device was able to transfer data rates of usb 3.0 at 1.4 gpbs. with a powerful charger capable of 9v@2 amps it was unable to keep the quest 3 charged. after using it 3 times the cable stopped functioning.

i plugged it up and after just hour and half of play it’s at 30 i it’s garbage so i hooked it up to my battery pack instead still garbage do not buy spend the extra money buy one straight from the oculus store

it doesn't charge like my old cable. i can swap between this cable and my old cable and its the difference between my battery charging or losing power. this syntech cable just can't keep up. maybe mine is defective, but i can sit at the oculus home screen and watch the battery deplete. again, i can switch to my basic old cable and the charge level will go up at the home screen. of course it won't retain battery level over link to a pc either, but using airlink with my old cable retains the charge level the whole time i'm using it. now, that said, my old cable does not have a separate charging port like the syntech does, so using the syntech over wired link to my pc works better than doing a wired link with my old cable. my pc can't charge my quest that well in the first place. but if i had a card with 18 watt charging in my pc it would already be better than the syntech cable. i don't feel like returning it, so it will sit in my room somewhere unless i absolutely need to play over wired link. but i wouldn't have purchased it if i knew it couldn't even charge at 18 watts(apparently the quest 2 has a max charge rate of 18 watts). i'm also using an adaptive usb-a wall charger for phones. its capable of 5v-3a, 9v-2a, and 12v-1.5a charge rates.i'm just assuming my quest 2 can take that and charge at 18 watts, but it could just be hitting 15 watts. either way, the syntech doesn't seem to be capable of doing the same with that same wall charger. maybe it can't take advantage of the higher voltage adaptive rates on that charger. but who knows. looks like i'm sticking to my old cable over airlink for now, though. its a 16ft amavasion cable with the 90 degree c-type for anyone that's curious what i'm comparing to. its always good to have some point of reference.anyway, to clarify: the syntech i have can't hit the same charge rates as my basic type-c to type-a cable. i tested both in the quest 2 home menu on my 18w wall charger and both over wired link to my pc. the syntech fails to keep my headset charged in both cases, whereas my old cable can retain a charge while in the home menu. its pointless to use the syntech for airlink, but it would end up the same as in the oculus home menu. my basic, old cable can retain a charge over airlink because it can still be plugged into that 18w charger. the syntech does say in the advertising that it has upgraded its chip compatibility with the official quest3 18w charger in 2024 and has a separate charging port for 18w pd fast charging. maybe my type-a wall charger isn't compatible or my cable is defective. i did set it up just like they have it in one of the pictures in their ad with a type-a wall charger. anyway, hope this mess helps people understand what they might be paying for

midway through my game my oculus quest 2 disconnected from my pc even though the cable was still connected. i checked the cable to see if it had broken or caught on anything and from what i could see it was still perfectly intact and it was still charging my headset. i looked at the quest application and it said that it couldn’t locate my headset. i went through every bug fix i could find thinking it was the oculus software but nothing worked. i ended up switching back to my old cable and what do ya know it works perfectly. all in all for something that i paid 30$ for it’s definitely not worth it if i’m going to have to get a new one in 4 months. perks the length of the cable was amazing and let me walk around my room comfortably it was also matched my gaming setup and didn’t look out of place. it was also not too heavy and didn’t weigh my head down when connected to my pc. still would not recommend.
