i love the mouthfeel (weird, but accurate) of the straw. it keeps water cold for plenty long enough. but that's where the good ends...the lid is not great. the button is hard to push and top is difficult to close. the handle gets in the way constantly and is better off removed.does not fit in any cup holders.worst part is the lid will break. look at other low-star reviews about buttons flying off or buying entirely new lids because owala doesn't stock the gasket parts separately. the plastic of my lid broke after 2 weeks and warranty people denied my claim. new lid is only $7 but really? it should last longer than a month. good bottle but durability is terrible.
i've tried other owala products in the past with no issues but this was the first ordered through amazon. do not buy. find a store and pick one up you know you can return it too. customer support for this issue is basically non existent.
the bottle is a disappointment considering what i paid for it.1. it leaks. maybe i got unlucky with mine but it leaks2. the button that releases the cap is insufficient to do so, i have to flick the cap open manually3. the straw constantly falls out on its own4. it doesn’t fit any cup holdersit’s not worth the money or hype. looking for an alternative
my owala tipped over on the sidewalk and the finish immediately chipped. by comparison, my several years old swell still looks large new.also this water bottle is advertised as fitting in cup holders, not sure what cars they tested but it doesn’t fit in any of mine.
i had high hopes for the owala freesip water bottle given its innovative design and promise of convenience. initially, it seemed like a great purchase, offering both a straw and wide-mouth option for drinking, which was a standout feature for me. the bottle also boasts a good seal that kept my water at the desired temperature for an extended period.pros: 1. dual sip options: the two types of sipping mechanisms – straw and wide-mouth – are quite handy and versatile, catering to different drinking preferences. 2. effective seal: the seal is reliable, ensuring no leaks and maintaining water temperature for a long duration.cons: 1. durability issues: unfortunately, the locking mechanism broke after just two months of use. the spring kept coming out, rendering the bottle unusable. 2. customer support: when i reached out to customer support for help, it took them an astonishing four months to respond. they offered partial credit to replace the lid, but it has never been in stock, so i haven’t been able to fix the bottle.while the initial performance and design of the owala freesip water bottle were impressive, the durability and customer support left much to be desired. given these significant drawbacks, i can only give this product two stars. if the quality and support issues are addressed, it could be a fantastic water bottle, but for now, i can’t recommend it.
the owala is 3.24 diameter, most bike bottle cages are 2.875 (wikipedia). given that cycling is a major use of such bottles, would have been good to mention that this bottle is too chubby to fit. added after a month of use: this bottle also does not fit into the cupholders in my car. it binds up halfway down, becoming both unstable and hard to remove. great for non-fitted use, but for bike cages, cup holders, etc, look elsewhere.
super cute water bottle, but does not fit in regular car cup holder with boot and wobbles around when i tried it in a larger cup holder. this is a design flaw, for sure. it also does not keep ice frozen at all. i am a school teacher, and i have to refill the ice at lunch (10:40 am!), and this is in an air conditioned school. cute and i love the two ways to drink from the lid, but useless in heat or in a car.
i got this water bottle in may and it’s already starting to rust. this is my 2nd water bottle from them and with the first i didn’t have problems with. i contacted customer support and they told me to use the bar rust cleaner but i’m more annoyed that it’s already rusting and i haven’t had it for that long. so be cautious that they can rust and customer support will not replace it
