i bought a pair of amazon basics 12lb weights. i opened the box and weighed them. one is 11.6 lbs and the other 11.4 lbs. this is the 2nd pair of weights i bought from them that were under weight. i won’t be buying amazon brand weights anymore.
this item is advertised on amazon as a 20 lb dumbbell, the box says it’s 20 lbs and each dumbbell is stamped 20 lbs but each dumbbell actually weighs only 19-1/2 lbs..
not sure why there are these holes but will return if they appear to increase in size. i saw a few other reviews saying they had holes too.also grip is very large/wide for my hand (i’m 5’1 118lbs ). grips is not grippy. it’s slippery.my neoprene bolinger set is much much better made.price is good though. packaging was good as well.
these are a nice-looking set of dumbbells that aren't too expensive; however, they are too big for smaller hands. i do not feel comfortable using them for overhead presses. the search continues.pic shows grip difference in these and the old bells.
we weighed these dumbbells and they are not actually 12 lbs each. they are 11 lbs. not accurate website description unfortunately. we are returning these.
decent weights, no noticeable smell, but the hand grips are too thick for my size 9 hands. anyone with hands big enough to be comfortable with these will probably not be using puny little 20 lb weights. i cut the rubber coating off the grips and wrapped them with hockey tape. a big improvement.
always check the weight of dumbbells. i checked on multiple scales and they all show 19.6lbs, not 20! nice color and no nicks in the covering, but they're not 20lbs. all of my other dumbbell purchases (not from amazon basics) were the correct weight as stated on the dumbbell.
these are cool. i bought them too improve the smaller muscles which tend to be weaker, ei. forearms, shoulders. when doing forearms curls the grips are just too large for precise movements and they kind of hinder the potential of the exercise. they’re definitely great but if you’re planning on buying these for forearms, only do so if you’re on a real tight budget
the feel and grip on these are perfectly fine. my only issue is that i did not get what i paid for. bought two, 12 lbs weights for a family rehab program. each dumbbell is 11.6 lbs. so collectively, i'm getting about a pound less than desired / product, as advertised. will more than likely return. bumped rating to 3 stars because amazon gave a $5 credit as an option, rather than return.
i purchased the 8lb and 15lb set. none of the dumbbells are the correct weight. even worse, they don’t match - e.g. one “15lb” is 14.40 while the other is 14.58. same with “8lb” weights - they are both underweight and don’t match.
look nice and feel good in the hand. however, the so call 3lb weights i received are not 3lbs each they are 2.5 lbs each. i weighted them on a commercial scale. so either the china mfg is ripping amazon off or amazon is ripping us off or both. mfg saving 1lb shipping weight from china, on just one set. that adds up to a lot of $$ with the number sold.
