not too grainy, but the particles might be a bit too small. the powder start to stick together if you keep it in a more humid place (40% or higher is my guess). this can be remedied by mashing the particles with a blunt object but only if it is moved to a less humid environment. i put mine in the fridge. the calcium without d3 from zoo med has the same problem but not as bad
