i was so excited to get another tomtoc! well, i got my protection sleeve for my new macbookpro 16 that was prescribed for my laptop. it does not fit unless you push, prod and force it in and then it does not even zip up. tomtoc, you need to build a case for the 16' and not just say the 15.9 case will work. :(
this was a very disappointing purchase. the description says it’s for a 15” macbook. i worked the corners for several minutes to get it to fit, very tight. the zipper was extremely difficult to zip, so i removed the laptop. i ordered a different brand of sleeve and gave this to my great grandson for toys. the extra zippered pocket on the front was great, just not useable as a macbook zippered sleeve.
when i did a search for water proof case for my macbook pro 16” this was the top result. i put my macbook pro in this case and it was accidentally exposed to rain, the water got in through the zipper and the sponge absorbed the water so it soaked my entire macbook. it is now water damaged and has to be completely replaced.no doubt the water resistant case would probably be fine in a accidental splash situation but if it’s exposed to more water than that, it won’t protect your laptop.
i really hate to leave a bad review on amazon, especially because i love tomtoc’s 12.9 inch ipad sleeve, but this one is a miss.when i put my macbook in here, and closed the zipper, i heard a quick sort of muted metallic “syyysss” kind of noise, and when i slowly opened the zipper back up, i noticed a faint little scuff. i have a silver laptop, but if someone had a darker space gray colored laptop i would imagine this would’ve actually removed the anodized coating.i’m not even one to care about scuffs and dings, it adds character and they’re inevitable, i’m just kind of buffering at the fact a product meant to protect the product from scuffs and dings, is causing a scuff on the corners. the sleeve needs to be made just a bit bigger to accompany the larger size.the zipper does feel nice, and the external pocket also has a zipper that feels nice to open and close. it does fit the 96w charger that comes with the laptop, including the brick. the sleeve i feel is what i like to call, “north face rated water resistance”, in which i mean the sleeve doesn’t allow a flood of water to reach your laptop, but given a drizzle, your laptop may become “humid”.speaking of north face backpacks, i own the surge, a pretty decent sized (normal) backpack, and while this sleeve fits, it definitely takes up some room, more so than the images of it would lead you to believe.i would imagine it’s protective from bumps, even while it’s scuffing your laptop in the meantime.i always like to lead myself to believing it’s my fault, but i truly don’t see how a fully naked laptop sits all of the way at the bottom of the sleeve and then still gets scratched by the zipper being my fault because i do take the utmost of care.
the rubber pull tab on one of the zipper has come off leaving it with the cording that will most likely draw and come off as well. such a disappointment after a short time of having this sleeve for my laptop. part of the time not being using because i was not traveling to work for several months.
i've purchased the tomcot protective sleeves in the past for macbook pro 13 laptops and have been completely satisfied with the product. however, i purchased this tomcot protective sleeve, which is designed for the new 14 macbook pro, and it's a tight fitting sleeve. it's tight fitting because i also purchased a fintie case protective snap-on hard shell cover for the 14 macbook. the sleeve should have been made slightly larger to accommodate 14 laptops with snap-on hard shell covers.also, the outside zipper pouch has limited use. the zipper pouch can be used to store flat cables but nothing else. if you attempt to store the 95w charger the zipper pouch, it's extremely tight fitting.the zipper pouches in the tomcot protective sleeves i purchased in the past for my 13 macbook pros were great. i could store cables, a backup 2.5 portable hard drive, and my charger with ease.
i have a 13' macbook air and this sleeve was too small. i am not able to zip it up while my computer is in it. very frustrating. seems like an inconsistent product
i bought the new 13” macbook air this week. i ordered this product since i am traveling today and wanted it protected. the product arrived yesterday and when i tried to put my laptop in, the laptop didn’t fit. the edges stick out just enough that it won’t even zipper closed. i purchased this product because it advertised for the new air, which i have. i’m not sure if what was sent to me was for a different product or what. i’m currently using it unzipped at the moment with the edges sticking out so my computer has some protection. try to avoid buying if you can!
the zipper scratched my brand new macbook pro the first time i slid it out of the case due to the zipper enclosure. it left tens of microabrasions on both sides of my minutes old macbook pro. i immediately returned this and swore of all zipper enclosure cases and bought a fishskyn skin for my macbook pro. ended up buying a more expensive incase sleeve with a magnetic flap closure but it was so worth it.
so for the macbook pro 13 this works beautifully, but i wish the front pocket was a hair longer. the zipper cuts off the full width and an 11 ipad will just barley not fit. its a bit annoying because it wont fit by a quarter inch. literally the width of the zipper. i know its for accessories, but ideally i really wish that combo worked.
i've been using this for 3.5 months. color started to fade out in less than a month, which is alright...but now zipper is detached from the main cover. now need to get a new one.
