last year i bought cap brand neoprene 8 lb dumbbells, which i rarely used. recently, my daughter started using them and noticed that one weight seemed heavier than the other. so i put them on a digital scale and sure enough, one of the weights was over 8 pounds and the other was under 8 pounds. i decided to try amazon basics neoprene dumbbells as a replacement. given my previous experience, the first thing i did when i took them out of the box was put them on the digital scale. and here we go again: neither one of the dumbbells weighs 8 pounds, and each of them has a different weight. photos show each of the dumbbell weights in both pounds and kilograms. photo includes the cardboard base to ensure the weight was evenly distributed on the scale, which was zeroed out prior to weighing the dumbbells. i’m sure the small differential won’t matter to a lot of folks, but i’m sending these back. and now i’m not sure what brand of dumbbells i can purchase with a reliable weight measurement. seems this would be one of the easiest things to qc during manufacturing. disappointing.
thanks for the 11.4lb dumbbells. it's awfully close to our 10lb dumbbells, which means we wasted money. appearance gets a star. everything else is a no go due to unreliable weight.
