this is the second ice maker i've had; the original one stopped making ice after several months, and this is the machine they replaced it with. i am extremely vigilant with the care and cleaning of this ice maker. i use the self-cleaning option once a week, and every six weeks, i run the self-cleaning cycle with a mild vinegar and water solution as per the company's recommendation (allowing 2-3 full cycles of ice making and discarding the ice before use). i only use filtered water and ensure proper ventilation on all sides.despite my diligent maintenance, i was shocked to wake up this past weekend to find the ice covered in black chunks of debris. the water reservoir was filled with black particles and dirt-like substances. the sides where the water flows were coated in a brown, scum-like substance, and it appears that a piece within the mechanism is rusting and leaking rust water, which is likely contributing to these issues.in the images, you can see that i removed the small filter piece in the bottom corner, and dirt and grime particles were present inside that waterway as well. i have no idea how this could have happened so quickly. when i contacted the company, they told me the warranty only covers from the original purchase date, despite the replacement machine being used for a shorter period. i understand that this policy might apply in typical situations, but when it comes to the health of your customers, it should be a priority.the company also instructed me to take apart the machine and open the side panel to check for mold or scale buildup in the water pipe. if this is a known issue, why aren't there instructions included in the cleaning and maintenance guide to help customers avoid reaching this point? additionally, it seems unwise to instruct customers to take apart electronics, especially those that contain water.no matter how much i clean this machine, i can never use it again because i am disgusted by this experience. since they won't give me a refund or replacement, i bought a new ice maker from costco.at least costco understands the importance of customer satisfaction and the potential health risks. they offer a hassle-free return policy, so if anything happens with my new frigidaire self-cleaning bullet ice maker, which was $79.99, costco will take it back with no questions asked. they value their customers and understand that the health, safety, and satisfaction of their customers are the top priorities. also, frigidaire is a trusted appliance company.
bought this machine in may of 2022 and it just broke so two years not bad. water one day started leaking our the bottom of the machine and ruined/warped my wood hutch it was sitting on. would buy another brand seeing as this one didn't last.
i bought two of these. one of them is constantly showing that it needs water added even with the tank completely full. it’s rather irritating that i constantly have to turn the power on and off numerous times to get it to reset and make ice. wish that they would replace this for me.
item was unpackaged and left on counter for a few days. plugged in, added water and started up. will not make ice. seems like no refrigerant (leaked out?). everything else works. i let it run for an hour and no ice.....
purchased this product as a christmas gift. it was used for less than a month and stopped working. from the looks of it. the line leading from the water chamber to the ice maker itself either broke or came off and no longer fills the tray with water and just leaks back into the going chamber. for the 3 weeks that i ran it was amazing. just super bummed to have spent almost $100 to purchase an item that didn't even work for a month.i did ask amazon for assistance, all i wanted to do was an even exchange, send the old one back and get a new one and they did not have that option for me.although amazon is fully refunding my purchase. it would have just been soooo much easier to do an even exchange because we really need an ice maker.i'm giving it a 2 star review because while it worked it was awesome. but we don't have $100 to throw at an ice maker every month.it's keeps saying add water when it already is full of water.super disappointed
this ice maker was perfect for the first two months (besides being slightly loud), then began leaking water at the seam. it constantly leaks now. it’s been cleaned weekly, drained, etc and still leaks when it’s on. i’ve contacted the seller and have gotten no response. disappointed.
very disappointed… i bought it from my husband for a christmas gift. we used it once and stored it. we just pulled it out five minutes later it’s leaking and i’m not sure we can even use it.
we absolutely loved this at first. we used it only here and there when needed. plugged it in again after a month, and leaks horribly. we have had it less than a year. paid $90, and super bummed.
3 weeks past the return window and it's already leaking. and the entire machine is extremely loud, not just when it's dropping the ice into the bucket.
