need ice fast, this is your device. need some cubes that work well in water bottles or glasses, this is your device. need something convenient, this is your device. however, need something neat, well maybe not this.it does its job and it does it well. my biggest issue is the water that consistently ends up in the ice tray. the cubes come off wet, even if i grab them right away due to the water that spills into the tray when the ice process starts. it can get in the way when you put your cubes into the freezer because now everything sticks together.so plan ahead, you can work with it, and it is a bit more convenient than the ice trays.
this ice machine produces about 6 ice cubes in about ten minutes. tired of lugging large bags of ice, i purchased.the problem is you have to baby sit this machine and take the six cubes of ice out very 10 minutes or so. then drain the ice holder on some paper towels. then put in freezer ice container. the ice maker had prongs so you get wet cubes. fast melting ice in freezer. cubes that freeze together. because there is no freezer in the ready container. ice is fast melt and you have to keep jumping up!!poor purchase...look for solid cube maker or freezer holding compartment.bought silicone freezer trays. very good blue and green ones.
seemed to work ok for about a year. then just at almost 14 months, it started getting out of sync and finally won't hold the water tray up to make cubes. seems the drive mechanism is friction based instead of gear based, so it wears out. it's just out of the 1-year warranty. manufacturer not helpful for replacement parts. i purchased the name brand one (that this seems copied from) with an extended warranty for less cost and is gear driven, has an automatic water level sensor, and 2 cube sizes. this one, once it gets low, you have to push start again after refilling.
