i’m confused if it should store the ice or not ? the ice from the moment it is dumped into the basket begins to melt . so the ice is in a constant cycle of freezing, melting and then going back through the cycle again. i believe that is why there is a horrible plastic taste if you go a few days without using the ice. would not recommend .
this countertop ice maker works fast but the storage basket is not maintained at a freezer temperature. so the cubes quickly turn to slush and melt back into the water reservoir. thus the unit runs continually. you have to scoop out ice cubes as soon as they're made, transfer to a zip bag, and put in your freezer. that's way more effort than i was expecting. it's not as quiet as advertised. my bedroom is two rooms away and i hear it making ice all night so i've had to power it off at the end of the day. the ice tastes like plastic. i contacted customer support and they said a cleaning cycle with lemon juice would solve the problem. it didn't.
