i bought this device because they offer free espn sports channels, peacock, fubo, etc... but all of them ask for a membership subscription monthly or annually fee, if you want to watch news and some tv channels that is ok.
the streaming stick completely failed after 2-1/2 months. my old roku worked perfectly for 7 years, but could no longer keep up with current streaming rates. this replacement was terrific when first connected but stopped working before 3 months were out. i've ordered another, slightly different model to replace it because roku is still the simplest and most straightforward system, but i'm not very confident that the new one will last very long and if another replacement is necessary, it will not be with a roku. i see that other purchasers have had similar experience. i have the same question as they do: since the old rokus were indestructible and the new ones are failing after a few months, and since it seems to me that this is not the most complex of electronic devices and shouldn't need major engineering effort to upgrade, why have roku products gone from quality to junk?
this is the 3rd roku we’ve purchased on amazon. all 3 were the same product just different models since the 1st 2 were purchased a few yrs prior. we love how easy it is to set up. however for some reason the last tv getting a roku requires it to be plugged in to a power source. the roku box includes the adapter but no power cord. apparently the newest model no longer includes it. lucky for us we still had the old box and we’re able to use that cord. i don’t know why this tv needed power but i’d be very upset if i had to lay out more money for the cord. i noticed apple has also stopped supplying the cords as well. i suppose it’s just another way for these big companies to save money. and then make more when we need to purchase it from them separately.
