i love my fire tablet, so i ditched roku and got the amazon fire stick. the problems keep popping up. i only have one app because i only watch discovery+. i get messages about loading errors and have to reset the remote. it gets tiresome. that takes a lot of time. i never had this problem with roku. neither of them is going to be great. there are problems with both. but this one is so frequent and annoying that i'm going to unplug and forget the fire stick.
this thing has been an endless headache since i bought it. it frequently has this “hdcp error detected” screen, preventing me from using certain apps. it’s completely unpredictable when this error will occur, and roku’s standard “solution” for it does nothing. you literally just have to wait until it feels like working again. i reached out to roku about this months ago and still haven’t received a response. terrible product from a terrible company, do not buy it!
the device wouldn't pair with the remote. went through all troubleshooting and still failed to pair. so i ordered a new one. and that one also failed to pair. communicated with roku customer service and they had no solutions other than to return them. this is a defective product.
i’ve been using rokus for about five years. for the first few years they have worked well. the past couple of years i’ve been having problems with the unit responding to commands from the remote control, mostly the volume and mute functions but not just those buttons. i thought mine was just getting old so ordered this one intending to replace my current roku. i didn’t install it right away since i could always find a way to make my old roku work again, such as unplugging it and plugging it back in, swapping remote battery positions, etc. often it would just start working again on its own after a half hour or so. anyway, my friend had an emergency need for a roku so i gave her my new one and installed it for her. after only a few uses it’s having similar and worse issues. i don’t know what to do.also, while streaming 4k content on my older roku it gives me on-screen messages that it is overheating.
volume controls and power button cut out and become inoperable after a few minutes. tried resetting and all kinds of corrections to no avail. sent it back for a different version. same thing happens.
