the crate is good, very spacious for my 2 small dogs but the box looked like someone ordered it and returned it so i received the same box re taped and with some holes and the item itself has scratches and it is peeled.also it didn’t come w the divider , in the description says : double door w divider but nothing , no divider.i won’t be returning bc i don’t like to return stuff but next time make sure to check or at least change the packaging . otherwise crate it’s okay.
we purchased this for our golden retriever puppy and within 3 months the handle broke. when we first received it we were happy to see the latch mechanism was different than our old crate. it seemed easier to use than past crates we've had but unfortunately it didn't hold up. our dog still isn't full grown, so it isn't like she has been destructive or is large enough to damage a crate so all in all a disappointing purchase.
i bought two of these crates and they aren't that great. i have to buy a different brand. dog crates have a notch at the top that holds the walls on. the notch on these are very small and barly cover the wall so the dogs just pull on the crate and the front caves in and the dogs get out. also the sliding-only lock system isn't great i had my dogs escape using this. you really want a crate bolt that is shaped like an l and slide accross then lock down. you want a crate with large notch that cant be pulled on to slip past the existing wall and cave in.
one of my pups legs have gotten caught in the grate underneath the door twice since owning it for about a week. he yelps and screams bloody murder when it happens. i’m sure it’s only working against crate training, which is already difficult enough. i don’t love the door lock either, which is bulky and too strong. my crate is on hardwood and it forces the whole thing to slide when i try to open it with one hand.basically, this thing has been over engineered. wish i could buy a regular crate, like the one that my mom bought 10 years ago!
we bought this for our german shephard who has been crate trained and fine in the past. however, our old steel crate did not have the plastic bottom anymore and we couldn't find a replacement (it was 20 years old). we bought this crate for him instead. our boy is a big baby when it come to thunderstorms, however, it was never an issue in the old crate. this crate didn't stand a chance. he became so panicked that he practically ripped the front door off in his attempt to get out. it took considerable effort to pry the door open when we got home to get him out. this crate is really poorly made with thin gauge wires that is not suitable to keep a large dog safe.
