brand new stick and remote purchased as a package.like many customers, device would not pair with the remote.device defective out of the box.contacted roku support, nothing helpful beyondwhat is already in the support pages.returned for refund.
i bought this to replace a roku 4k ultra. unfortunately, it does not have the ability to pair with bluetooth headphones like the ultra. too bad as i was using this feature every night.
do not buy any of the newer roku’s. i’ve had roku’s for years now and have probably bought 5 or 6 in my lifetime. the last two i’ve purchased have had faulty remotes. batteries need to be changed a couple times a week and it has trouble staying connected. it’s always asking me to pair a remote. this is apparently a very known issue.contacting customer support is a nightmare. they will do anything to blame the problem on you. finally they will concede the issue and tell you we’ll send you a replacement. 3 months later still no replacement and no response from customer service other than to ask how they did with their support.product is garbage and support is worse. switching to apple tv.
remote simply would not pair with the device, so i couldn't actually test the product. will order another and update my review after... hopefully will not get a second dud.
2 new units wouldn't pair with their own remotes, tried multiple tvs and after searching forever, found a way to reach tech support. after 45 minutes they were out of answers too. returning today
recent power outages required moving from one tv to another due to cords from inverter generator. very difficult to pair, many tries (8-10) then it mysteriously worked. they have a phone app, but you only get 3 trial days then you have to pay. it works so you can operate your roku stick, but having to pay another $26 for lifetime is unreasonable, also the phone app has lots of ads, and has to be connected each time you use it. the phone app is not as convenient as the remote. the remote drops the pairing whenever the power goes off, such as when the generator runs out of fuel. re-pairing is inconsistent, you can easily spend an hour. i canned the roku and bought a fire stick. problem solved! the fire stick pairs automatically.i'm done with roku.
after several attempts to pair remote, i had to keep the remote 1 inch from the antenna on the supplied usb cord. then pairing worked flawlessly. this is not in the instructions or online help.
