reviewing after a year of using the product. i bought the 3.2 cup set of 5 containers. some of the containers cracked (see pictures) about 6 months after i started using them.i didn't realize how small they would be for my requirements. the problem is that lid presses into the container, and so takes up some space. while this is itself is not a bad design, it does become problematic every time you try to adjust the amount of food you store in the container without knowing whether or not it would fit properly. the product is advertised as microwave-safe, but over the course of using them, i didn't have much confidence in heating up food in these containers. and just as i suspected, they started cracking a few months after i started using them. i should have bought glass containers instead, even if they're a bit more expensive.not all is bad, however. these little containers are good if you want to use them just to store some food that you don't intended to heat or warm up, like fruits or snacks or anything light-weight. the lids do make a really good seal once closed.
i liked this product for the ease of going from the fridge to the microwave to the dishwasher. i especially liked the snap seals that you open to microwave and not have to worry about splatters. but after several of the containers cracked, i reached out to rubbermaid customer support. this is what they told me: when heating the containers in the microwave they should only be heating in 30 second intervals and then stir. repeat this process until the food reaches your desired temperature. we do not recommend that you reheat foods high in fats, salt or sugar. and if you eat from them you should only use plastic, wooden or rubber utensils.
i was using these on a daily basis last year and they're all gone. every last one i have owned have cracked in various spots whether it's on the lid or the base.now my dishwasher has been broken for a long time so i have handwashed these items from day one, i do put them in the microwave, but never with the lid attached, the product is supposed to be microwave safe so i was definitely within average use when doing so. and lastly, i have never dropped these containers, they've never been on anything but the kitchen counter, on my car seat in transit to and from work, and on the lunchroom tables yet they somehow still managed to crack.it baffles me as to what causes this and i will not be spending any more time or money trying them out and hoping they won't crack when in use. i really wanted to like these, i used them all the time a few years ago and never had a single problem, so something must have changed in the quality of the manufacturing process between then and now. i'd definitely recommend purchasing something else.
purchased in november, and loved the look. we use them weekly for meal prep, and the large ones for leftovers usually.i've now had three crack on me through normal usage. carry to/fro work, in a padded lunch box... we was in dishwasher, but they're allegedly dishwasher safe. you'd think for $100 on tupperware i wouldn't have these issuesdo not recommend, purchase glass ones instead. rubbermaid has clearly decided to cut corners and raise their prices to deliver to their shareholders instead of making quality products
i wanted to invest in good containers as i tend to buy cheap ones in a large quality only for them to stain and warp and have to buy more. i spent a ton of time researching and reading reviews and thought these containers were the ones. nope! gave my husband one to take to work for lunch and he placed it on the microwave for 1 minute and 45 seconds to reheat a very large portion of food. it melted and warped instantly. i reached out to rubbermaid who was beyond useless. they told me they have a 120 day guarantee but i voided this by reheating my meal for over 30 seconds. the containers are only microwave safe for 30 seconds after that they are no longer safe. they have speciality lids to prevent splatter and steam food but all this is happening in 30 seconds? get out. no where can i find the information they are no longer microwave safe after 30 seconds or else i would have never bought them. do not waste your money! absolutely horrible customer service that took weeks to answer, i’m guessing to ride out the 120 day guarantee and closed my case and then reopened it to tell me they wouldn’t help me. beyond annoyed. will never buy rubbermaid anything again.
please, whoever is reading this, do not buy these containers. i bought one set in 2020 and just recently had to re-order another set because all of the tops/lids are leaking. either the rubber has rips in it, or the seal it ripped off away from the plastic of the lid completely (see pictures). i definitely am gentle when i wash these, not only are they exclusively washed on the top row of the dishwasher, we actually have a third rack that i was the tops on to make sure they are extra safe and away from the heat at the bottom.i will be looking at alternatives and when they arrive i'm going to throw all of these useless containers out. unless you only use these to transport food flat all of the time, do not buy these.
i've had these containers for 2 years. they started out great. they are lightweight and seemed to be leakproof. they started cracking and breaking - both the containers and the lids. i did put them in the microwave. some went into the freezer. always on the top shelf of the dishwasher. i bought 3 sets because i was so excited about how lightweight they were and the bento type feature of some of them. and now most of them are unusable as airtight, leakproof containers. i've probably thrown half of them away. the only ones that are still airtight and leakproof are the ones i hardly use. i'll try to post a picture of those that have cracked and broke but they might all be in the garbage now.
bought these 9 months ago. within the first week of use, one cracked when i put it in the microwave to heat up my lunch for a couple minutes. rubbermaid replaced it but told me they should only be microwaved for 30-seconds or less. so, basically useless. since then i have cracked a couple lids and bottoms from everyday use. they seal exceptionally well, so i rated an extra star, but if you’re storing a dry food, the tops can be difficult to remove and i’ve cracked one doing that. very disappointing product, and i will not be buying from rubbermaid again for food storage. i should have just bought tupperware and been done with it. :/
