i have had this keyboard for 4 months. at first i loved it. then i started to notice my typos. some letters would be missing while other times the letter would be displayed twice. there is no real pattern on when or which letter will or will not type. during the times were i can identify the problematic key i would remove the keycap and press down until i see where the response occurs. sometimes it does not type when fully pressed down, other times it would enter the letter twice. it has become pretty frustrating.i was hoping to change out the switches but they are not hot swappable. having to unsolder them would be a hassle. lastly i have tried a different cable from the one supplied and the issue still remains. since it is passed the return period from amazon, i am no longer able to return the keyboard.
since the first week, the keyboard started becoming unresponsive. the only way to get it working again is to unplug and reconnect the usb cable. this happens randomly several times a day, making it impossible to work with.
overall, this keyboard functions pretty well given the price and it's a solid budget option. however there are some small mistakes that i think need sharing.1. the backlight doesn't evenly shine through on some keys (as seen in the capslock and left shift keys in the images attached)2. the extra included keycaps (red ones) don't have translucent letters on them, meaning they will not light up. not a huge deal just something i noticed.3. the included tool used to take the keycaps off will not fit in the space above or below the key if the key is on the top or bottom row, making it pretty inconvenient to take those keys out. (see image 3)4. some keys look different than they do in the pictures. for example, the shift and enter keys have arrows next to them on the real keyboard but in the listed pictures, they do not. all the keys with these discrepancies include: both shift keys, enter, tab, capslock, page up, and page down.5. the kickstand feet make the keyboard very slightly wobbly. i have tested this on multiple flat surfaces and it only wobbles when the feet are up. note that it does not wobble constantly, rather only when slight pressure is applied to the top right or bottom left corners of the keyboard. (such as pressing backspace or left ctrl)6. last thing, (very petty) the font appears to be different on the real keyboard as opposed to the font in the pictures. i couldn't find either of the exact fonts used, but when comparing the images side by side the difference is clear.all that being said the only thing that might be an issue is that the keyboard is pretty loud. however if you wear headphones most of the noise is reduced. i tested this with noise cancelling headphones and with noise cancelling off, and i can say that it's not a big deal. however if there is someone in the room with you it will probably annoy them. but hey, the keyboard only costs $30 and for that price it is pretty good. although i would strongly recommend just saving up to buy a higher end one.
my main issue with this is that the keyboard will become unresponsive, i’ve had this happen 3 times now. the backlight is on but they keys are unresponsive. i have to unplug the keyboard and plug it in again to get it to work. 1st disconnect was a week after use. the next 2 we’re on the same day 2 weeks after use.the keyboard works good, one thing to know is that the keys do not come how they are shown in the photo. i ordered the black/white with orange keys. when received it was black/white and you have to pop the keys in yourself, not an issue just wasn’t mentioned before buying.4th month now using the keyboard and it now consistently disconnects, i have to unplug it and plug it back on only for it to shut off within the next couple of seconds or minutes. i have tried different usb ports but that doesn’t help. i’m using my old keyboard now because this one is just an annoyance now.
all of the keys are so loud because there’s no rubber installed in the keyboard to prevent the metals, springs and plastics from connecting during typing. it sounds like an old-school typewriter. i also received keys that don’t even fit on the keyboard.
this is the first mechanical keyboard i ever bought, first day of use and it was great, couple of days pass and now the letter e has double or even triple typing issues. is not even one of the keys you change. 2nd week of usage and now the letter d is having the same issues, 3rd week and now the letter i.the keyboard is unusable the double typing is extremely annoying. really bad experience for my first mechanical keyboard, i would recommend to invest a bit more in something with better materials.
decent keyboard, but it stops responding, while still being lit. luckily the usb-c cable can be disconnected from the keyboard which makes the disconnect/reconnect process to wake it back up easier than if i had to reseat the cable at the back of my pc. the lack of dedicated f keys is kind of annoying for gaming.
the build quality overall seems ok. i'm reviewing one with blue switches. the key material feels good and the click feedback is what i would expect from the name-brand blue keys.the only issue that i have is that two keys: r and u, fail to register a keystroke about 5% of the time. if i gently press the key until it clicks, it doesn't register about half of the time. i pound on the keyboard so it doesn't register about 5% of the time, which does slow me down quite a bit as i write a lot for my job.the other issue is that the u key, in addition to not registering about 5% of the time, also double-types a u, also about 5% of the time. on average, every other paragraph will be missing an r, a u, or will have uu where it should be one u. it's just annoying enough that i can't use this keyboard for my job. i wanted to switch to a keyboard with blue switch keys but these flaws get in my way too much. i am occasionally hooking it up and pounding away hoping that over time i can break in the two keys (that i've noticed) don't work well.it looks sharp, sounds great, and has a great price, but i couldn't recommend it to anyone who uses a keyboard.
gliding your hand over the keyboard is enough to cause key presses, which makes typing without constant typos not possible. i'm also the type of nerd that actually uses insert/delete/home/etc, and the function key simply is unreliable. it works consistently with some keys but does not toggle consistently with others.
feels nice, until you use it. only f and j have homing bars. not the arrow keys, or space, or enter, or tab. you feel blind typing on this partially lit, one color, unresponsive landfill. plus it weighs as much as my full size with an audio bar.
this keyboard sucks. plain and simple. it stops working couple times a day out of nowhere. the lights are still on but keys are unresponsive. so you have to disconnect and plug back in. it can get pretty annoying. i've had better luck with cheaper keyboards. would not buy this again
this is my 6th magegee keyboard and it's dead by 3 drops of water. if you drop water on these the key or keys will die. i had logitech keyboards i spilled a cup of water on and it dried out and worked fine. these are delicate. you cant drop any water or drinks on them.
keyboard becomes unresponsive after not using for a few minutes. every youtube video i watch or any time i go to the kitchen for 5 minutes and come back, i have to unplug and plug back in the keyboard. pretty annoying. also only came with 1 extra key.
i disliked the lighting issue as the lighting makes it cool for those wondering there is no software and also the letters and number and other symbols on the keyboard doesn't light up fully there are difrent modes, and i liked how it came with a keycap puller it is not hot-swappable and the main feature i don't like is that i don't know if this only happens with my one but it randomly disconnects but to fix this re-plug it i wouldn't recommend this keyboard as there many better options for only 5 extra the clicks on the keyboard sounds satisfying on the blue switches though
its okay if you don't need a few of your keys to work all the time. playing games with a w key that would only register half the time was pretty frustrating. also some other keys would skip or double type. i basically just kind of dealt with it for most of the year. i even have to keep editing this review because it keeps doubling up letters or skipping them. honestly got so frustrated with it today i punched it finally and the plastic leg broke. guess i'll go buy something that's not garbage this time
frst off, thought it would be funny if used the very same keyboard to wrte ths revew. normally use gd grammar, but ths s as good as it gets wth ths keybard after ownng t for si (6) mnths. i mean, culd g back and f every iissue, but that would take a lt of time. f i've ever felt the need to smash a prduct against the grund, thisi is it.
the overall build quality as in the material of the keyboard is pretty good but the finishing of the keys isn’t up to the mark, for ex- the character on a few key on this board are not well lit like the rest of the board. as one can see in the attached screenshot, in the capslock word only the l alphabet is lit properly other alphabets are kinda dim. other than that, the extra keys that you receive with this keyboard do not support backlight i.e they’re just solid plastic and light doesn’t pass through the lettering in them. also, the keyboard i ordered was grey/blue which means the extra keys should have been blue and not red! the keyboard is a little loud. i’ll return this and go for a better one!
