i’ve had this for a few years and haven’t used it much; it’s heavy, and i have better options for travel. but i needed the larger solar charging capacity recently and took this with me. after an afternoon in the sun, the main solar panel was warped and peeling off. maybe the glue has dried out but i have other solar chargers that have been designed better for their primary application.
i will say it charges pretty slow ( i’m in the pnw but the sunny part if you can believe there is a spot like that). the weight is heavy compared to high end battery solar chargers but i wanted to try it out compared to one i got at rei. the good news is that it charged just as good as the more expensive one. the amount of batter is similar and the charging speed from battery to device is similar. the down side and differences is weight and speed of solar battery charge. i will actually be keeping this for a back up and if any friends need to borrow a solar charger.
everything appears to work well with the unit. however, the battery only has enough power to charge my phone once. after that the unit dies and requires recharge. i’ve tried this multiple time to test the unit. it is possible this is due to a faulty lithium cell (a common occurrence in chinese batteries), but i could not reach anyone from their customer service dept so i am stuck with a poor/non functioning unit. you may have better luck. unfortunately mine charges less than a small gas station battery pack. not worth the weight
nice capacity and quality. worked well out of the box. it is really quite heavy. makes a good leg’s workout when it’s in backpack. only used solar charger a few times for short periods to bolster the charge, mostly for the novelty and testing for “just in case”. only time i truly needed solar charging was power outage in dead of winter and not possible. though it’s large capacity definitely came in handy then!i bought it in june 2021 and in dec 2022 it will no longer accept a charge. don’t know if it’s the charge controller or the battery. it was in effect a large backup battery for me as i never had a sunny opportunity to need its solar charging ability. i would hope a backup battery would last longer than 18 mos though i understand these lithium batteries don’t tend to last too long. i got less than a dozen charges from it. i’m thinking a better investment is buying multiple smaller packs for $10-15ea instead. the odds are very good that at least half of them will still be working long after 18 months!
i've tested the solar panels by leaving it out for a day in the summer sunlight and didn't see indicator lights pop up. so i really cannot confirm if the panels work. however, the battery itself is rugged and lasts for quite a long time charging. it's a bit heavy, prolly not good for hiking but is fine for traveling.
i tested this unit and it was only capable of storing 13,500 mah, which is only 54% of its advertised capacity (25,000 mah). the unit works well, and has a bright built-in led light. the solar panels take several days to charge the battery pack, making it useless for a backpacker (not to mention it weigh 19.1 oz).there are other more reputable companies selling superior products often for lower prices. anker, ravpower, charmast, etc. do not get suckered for the solar feature. to have any meaningful charging ability you need much larger and higher quality solar panels than this unit provides.i would recommend you treat this product as a simple usb battery pack and ignore the solar panels. however, they take up space and weight, so i can not recommend this unit.
stopped charging devices after first camping trip even though charge indicator lights imply it has 75% change and flashlight turns on.charge indicator primitive, give sliding 5 light range, not actual percentage of charge remaining. indicators don’t work unless flashlight turned on.flashlight is on or off only. not blinking setting.supplied cable not compatible with iphone, not standard usbc usba ports.heavy. not great for backpacking. ill
i took this on a 3 day backpacking trip and i wanted to recharge it using the solar panels. i had charged it with an outlet before the trip so it had power and use it to charge my garmin watch once and it charged my iphone 2 times. when it came down to using the solar panels i have to give it 3 stars because it did not recharge fully in the sun like it is advertised. after sitting in the sun all day i was able to charge my iphone before heading out. it never did get fully charged using the solar panels. it is too heavy, in my opinion, to use for backpacking. i will still use it to travel to charge my iphone when needed and also use for when the power goes out due to rolling blackouts.
works great and has strong power to charge but eesh it’s heavy. not really practical for backpack or bag. not bad for keeping in a camper or car i guess. defeats the purpose of portable power.
i've had this thing for a little over two years before it finally died earlier this june. works very well as a regular power bank, but a little on the heavy side. not to unbearable in my opinion since i had it mostly in my back pack. solar panels were pretty good. charging time varies based on where exactly you put it to gather sunlight, and how intense the sun is on that day. for context, i had mine placed at my window, facing upward at about 45 degrees and i had it charging for about two, two and a half weeks give or take, before it got full. all things considered, this is really not that bad since i had it indoors, and not technically in *direct* sun light. the solar panels should be used as a last resort (like if you're stranded somewhere and desperately need to keep your phones battery up or something)anyway, the power bank was great until it decided to stop working one day. plugged it in via usb to charge and went to work. came home that evening to find that the power bank was not turning on. i thought maybe the led just died or something, so i plugged the power bank in to my phone. no charge. i tried to unplug and replug the power bank a few times to get it to work, but no luck. it's essentially a brick now.not sure if this is an isolated incident just to me, or if the power bank just has a limited life span. for context, this product was in working condition for approximately two years, three months (based on my purchase date) before it finally burnt out. --i have another power bank (which is unfortunately no longer sold on amazon anymore) that i've had since october of 2019, and that one is still going strong.over all, 3 stars because this product unfortunately died suddenly on me. would have been 4 otherwise. would have been 5 if it was a lighter product, and if the solar panels had a few extra panels for a slightly faster charge.
