im not exactly sure when i bought this solar charger. but it was a decent charger. i kept it in my glove box of my truck. i recently pulled it out and noticed that the case for the charger was split open. at first i thought it had been dropped and the case broke open. but it was the batteries inside that had started to swell and broke the case open from the inside out. i wish i had thought of taking a picture of it before theowing it away. so i could post it. im not sure why it did that. the only thing i can think of is the changing of temperatures from being in my truck. from hot to cold hot to cold. so if you buy this dont keep it in your vehicle.. they advertise it for out doors. but i dont think its meant for long term. i kept it in my truck for emergency purposes. but think im going to have to look for something more durable. for long term temperature changes.
didn't hold up well in the heat of a texas summer. no longer reliably charges. the first 2 months were great! very packable, charged up a smartphone pretty efficiently...i've given up on it reluctantly. i think it was the heat, which is frequent factor for my forays.
there was still decent sunlight left and both of my other chinesium solar devices were still charging away but this thing gave up pretty quickly. i brought all the devices back in at dusk and my other devices were charging off of the ceiling light but this thing wouldn't. it was charging earlier in the day but i guess it needs a much stronger light source to charge. yesterday it seemed to have problems charging my watch, almost as if the output was digitally controlled and the watch wasn't detected so it wasn't charged (granted, the watch was very dead).. still, if this is my only means of charging, i want something that works all the time.it 'works' but definitely wouldn't be my first pick. returning this and keeping my other pieces of kit.
adventure outdoor anywhere except where it rains or this device will fail. advertizing says waterproof. manual and design says to avoid rain. good luck.
i’ve had the misfortune of owning a lot of these solar charging power banks. i do a lot of outdoors activities so being able to change my electronics in the sun was very important in choosing a good power bank. this power bank has so far been the only one i’ve been able to charge to full in the sun. very happy with this purchase. i’d recommend this if you need a solar charging power bank.update: aug.25.2022. i’m going to start off by saying this is perhaps the best solar bank i’ve had. that being said, when i first had the unit it would always charge to full in the sun. but as of recent the power bank will not charge to full anymore. it would only charge to half and no matter how long you leave it out it will never charge to full. disappointed, i thought i had a winner.i believe this is due to design flaws more than quality control issues. this problem isn’t isolated to just this design and manufacturer but all of them in general. i’ve always covered the battery portion of the power bank when out in the sun. because i know batteries don’t want to be out in the blistering heat. why do they insist on you leaving a heat sensitive device out in the hot sun for extended period of time is beyond me. solar power banks just say no!
