the lights work great, the app is easy to use, and there is many different light options you can go through, or make your own display. you can toggle the brightness however you’d like. the only thing is it doesn’t really connect with alexa. the govee home application on alexa has very low reviews due to it simply just not connecting, and for me it was no different. the steps to connect your lights to alexa in the govee app weren’t even finished writing, they cut off at step 3 and it stops there.
tldr:cons: poor backing, blue lights die after 7 days (3rd set), app has weird options and some are just to make it look fullpros: brightness, app worksend thoughts: honestly get something a bit better.i really wish i could like these. i have used govee before, twice previously, bought one and got one sent as a replacement. then bought the rgbic strip.the first time the sticky backing came off about 2 weeks into it being on the wall. i got a replacement and the backing did the same thing, but that's not my main issue although it is a big one.the one strip i have on my wall has three lights that will not light blue. i thought the better model might have fixed it plus i wanted the individual light feature so went with the rgbic. i had them delivered and installed them feb 1st, i noticed on feb 7th that one light does not light blue. its hard to show but when i have blue on only green shows, purple shows red, etc you get the point. and they haven't been on for 7 days straight or anything, maybe a few hours a day. but even if they were on for 7 days straight dying already is a huge deal breaker for me.they have only been installed for 8 days as of writing this review, so i don't know if the adhesive has improved but seeing how the lights haven't changed i doubt that the adhesive is gonna stick for much more than one month. the fact that i have had three light strips and all have had defective blue lights is a deal breaker. but you know once is a chance, twice is a coincidence, third is a pattern. and the app is weird, it has preset that do the same thing or some are just weird options but the app works so can't complain i guess.end thoughts: honestly get something a bit better. im not even gonna bother getting a replacement set of these because they will most likely have the same issue. get something that wont have blue lights die less then a week into use.
i do like that you can control segments and create a variety of color schemes. they’re not the brightest kit i’ve owned and that can be frustrating. there is no remote for this kit and the manual module that they strips route through is cheaply made and not the most intuitive controller. the app’s user interface is confusing. i’m considering taking them down and ordering another brand.
my biggest problem with these lights is the phone app. the user interface and controls on the app are kinda complicated. i really just wanted a simple, easy interface, but this app definitely takes a minute to learn how to use it. that being said, the app does have a lot of really cool features, but learning how to use them is definitely a challenge.the lights themselves work great - the connector specifically is amazing. the last led lights i had were a nightmare because the connectors between the lights and the power cord were always so finicky.in summary, these have pros and cons. there’s some cool features, but they’re a bit complex in my opinion.
