i use these for working out in my shop, so they get some scratches on the lenses easily. i don't think they have any coating on them. i always have a soft clean cloth in my pocket to clean them when needed. they are comfortable and can be worn for hours since they have spring hinges.the last set that i bought seemed to have a black coating on the plastic bows. after a few hours of using them the coating started to peel off and stick behind my ears.but for my needs, these are cheap and work well. i have better reading glasses when i am in the house.
i have purchased more than one box of these, and the frames consistently break after just a little use. i want to like them....i love the price, but i haven't figured out why the frames break so quickly....normally on one of the bottom corners around one of the lenses. i have no complaints about the quality of the lens....just that the frames appear to have a defect and i have yet to see a pair that this hasn't happened with. without fail, one of the lenses just falls out, and upon examination, the frame has broken.
i guess you get what you pay for but 4 of 5 frames broke within 3 months. and not doing something excessive but actions as simple as cleaning the lenses.
i got these delivered on october 5th and already the lenses in 4 pairs have cracked or chipped. i'm guessing that the edges of the lenses are not ground to remove sharp edges leaving stress concentration points which fail as soon as you wipe the lenses clean with a microfiber cloth a few times.i've bought batches of similar readers from amazon before and never had such a bad lot, but with these cheap glaases, you never know who really makes them.
