it's ok as long as you keep tray secured, but tray stains and the marks can't be cleaned. the bottom uses a different material than sides so if you don't lock the tray in place pets can get through easily out of the 6 inch gaps. the bottom holes are very large. clips that allows it to be foldable are made of plastic. also lock on the door could be better. it pivots side to side as it opens and closes so you have to make sure all three tabs go behind slots or pets can force their way out. i've tried multiple cleaners to clean bottom but didn't have any luck.
the entire quality of the product is questionable, we received the crate first time and we aren’t even able to lift it up as the entire thing is locked together. reached out to cs and they sent over a replacement item. this crate is very heavy, we have to moved this item twice to our apartment. the 2nd time of receiving it we weren’t able to open up the 2nd layers of it, again it completely locked. contact cs again, very poor service/ response. i will rather to spend more to purchase a better quality product, now i still have to repack the entire crate into the box for ups to pick it back up.
the spring for the lock broke in about a week from normal use. it will close and latch but the lock will not stay in place allowing for pets to get out. sending back and shopping for another one that has the normal two latch locks. this one was easier to use but not durable.
there is a gap below the door they enter that is wide enough for the pup's foot to fit through. she has caught her foot in her twice and almost fell while it was stuck, which i am sure would have broken her foot, leg, or both if i had not been there to catch her fall. just now she got it stuck while her door was open and trying to eat her food out of her kennel. she got her paw out just as i got to her to help, and now she is crying and favoring her paw a bit. this should not be possible. we have put zip ties every 2 inches to keep her foot from sliding through now. the door lock is also a pain, as i think it was tweaked to begin with, as all three locks never slide in unless i push the top one in at the same time i lock it. also, the divider is quite hard to get the last hook latched, as if the kennel itself is torqued. this kennel is crap. would not suggest to anyone.
one of my pups legs have gotten caught in the grate underneath the door twice since owning it for about a week. he yelps and screams bloody murder when it happens. i’m sure it’s only working against crate training, which is already difficult enough. i don’t love the door lock either, which is bulky and too strong. my crate is on hardwood and it forces the whole thing to slide when i try to open it with one hand.basically, this thing has been over engineered. wish i could buy a regular crate, like the one that my mom bought 10 years ago!
not sure if it was because it got a used one or if it’s just the mechanism but the lock would jam so i don’t think it’s a good crate in case something happens…
we have a 60 lb german shepard mix. she is strong enough to bend the bottom wires to make the door unusable. we have to constantly bend the wires back so we can open the door. these bottom wires also lock in the bottom tray, so we've had to use wire ties to keep it all together. i would not recommend this for larger, strong dogs.
