the tray is shallow, so unless you just have one cat and use a little bit of litter, you can’t open the drawer without making a mess to try to scoop litter. to clean through the hole in the top is almost impossible. and it’s hard to remove the top if you want to do that to try to clean. as it snaps together quite thoroughly.it is a beautiful box and comes as advertised. it’s just not very practical.
as much as i like this litter box, there are some things that could be improved upon. despite being put together properly, if you have a cat that flicks the litter hard, it can end up coming out of the box in the back, so you end up with litter behind and underneath the litter pan box. the litter also gets into the area where you attach the wall section to the base that holds the litter pan. and if your cat happens to end up peeing along/on the wall, it and the litter get into the area where you connect the wall base. the only way to clean, and i mean clean it, is to take it all a part, which is a pain in the but and even then, you have to get intensive with it or just spray it then let it dry or towel dry it. i'm not a fan of the scoop that comes with it. the holes in it are to big and ended up having to do extra scoops to get the pieces that were just small enough to slip through. the top is 50/50 on ensuring that litter doesn't get tracked elsewhere. unless your cat walks around on it a little before hopping down, it does so-so on keeping litter contained to the box.it works, my cat uses it. since there were some pretty obvious issues that could have been addressed is why i gave it 3 out of 5 stars.
it was cool that the tray came out for you to clean, but it was hard to scoop without litter falling out the sides. also, any time my cat peed too near the side, it would leak out through the back.
