these lights are not individually controlled that's what the ic in rgbic its supposed to mean. not groups of 6 lights, like this strip does. can't get much of a chase effect when big blocks of lights are grouped together on such a short strip.i expect better from govee than to mislabel a product with a feature it doesn't even have
the lights looks great except for the last 10 feet - the white lights look yellow. it’s too late take up all of the lights - it was a huge job laying out all of the tape strips, especially since the adhesive is firmly stuck to all of the boards i just painted black. i even plugged in the lights ahead of time as per the instructions. while i didn’t notice any deference, but then again, this section of lights was towards the end. the other colors are a bit off, but not as much as the white ones, which i use most often.unfortunately, i had to take off 2 stars because of all of the work that went into this job. otherwise, i would have given these lights 5 stars!
i think it is really important to know that you cannot really create a gradient with this it goes by segments which are probably 10 inches long these are easy to repair if anything happens to them and there is not much freedom on the app even though it is still a good choice for what’s out there
gotta love how the suggested accessories for this can’t actually be used for these. any ic led strip can only be cut to end a sequence. they can not be rejoined using pin connectors. i repeat: these can not be cut in the hopes to start a different row. the manufacturer should clearly state that these can not be cut. instead they leave it up to the buyer to figure out on their own. essentially you just have one (or two depending on length bought) rows of lights and that’s it.
had to purchase this one twice.. 1st purchase figured could cut and do 45° angles with connectors like every other strip lighting allows you to.. my fault for not reading the tiny print.. so fair warning.. do not cut. they will not work again. so after i wasted $75 on that 100ft, purchased 2nd roll. the frustrating part with these particular lights is the fact that they cannot be cut and connected due to the chip technology.. it is a pain to do corners with.. by making the covering thickness thinner it will be easier to curve or ribbon the strip at every corner. for one it ain't that easy, and two.. can't cover that area in a track with cover.. so can be an eyesore. okay that's the negative.. positive side the lighting is vibrant.. the colors can be deep and dark as you want to actual led bulb white. the app for lighting shows.. my kid can't get enough of and being able to create your own lighting effects makes it that much better.. overall i do wish the 100ft came as 2 separate rolls.. since they cant be cut it is a pain to find continuous 100ft of area to place them.. but the lights when up and running was worth the issues.
so, the features of these lights are really good. i like the segmented light sections, i like the density of the lights, and i like the music features. however, there are some big issues with them that definitely hamper my enjoyment.first, both 50ft rolls are set up in parallel to each other on the power connector with no way to change that without cutting and soldering. this means that you need to put the main controller in an awkward position between wherever you want the 100 feet to be, instead of allowing one big strip. however, even if i did cut and solder them, i don't think that it would help, as follows:my second and more major point is the fact that the lights just can't maintain their brightness.throughout the strip. i attached a photo of the strip. the strip running downward is the start of the light strip, and the strip running horizontal is the same strip but like 30 feet later. there is a massive color difference between them. i would expect that for led strips this expensive, i would receive a much higher quality product that actually looks good the whole way through. this issue makes the white mode particularly annoying to use. the start of the strip is a cold white, and the end is a warm almost yellow color. that's just not what i want to see in a strip light.
all is excellent, though a bit difficult to figure out how to create and save custom scenes. only a handful of the scenes sync to alexa (it appears in the order you have them saved on the app). brightness is sufficient though some colors are dimmer than others. i would hide these as the individual led’s are visible so you get points of light rather than a consistent “neon” effect. you can purchase a mount that has a clear plastic diffuser to help reduce this.
i literally didn’t know u can’t cut this strip and it ended up not working. i thought u can use this strip for two rooms but it definitely wasn’t what i expected. if they had a smaller one i would have bought that. very disappointed in this.
