so disappointing! i hand wash these and don't microwave them. yet after less than a week, one of the large containers had a big crack. within a month, a small one had hairline fractures up the side.they're nice because they stack well, the lids clip on tightly, and they're lightweight, but since they break almost immediately i do not recommend them.i tried to get a warranty claim but the company will not contact me back despite the fact i showed photos of the damage.
sadly, as fantastic as these look, they do eventually lose some of their clarity (begin to get milky with reheating tomato sauce based leftovers, the lid clips break off (as only tiny plastic nubs hold them in place), and the containers develop cracks. they are fantastic for about a 1 to 1.5 years then they need to be replaced. will say i loved the fact you can microwave with the lids on and unlatched given venting under the laches.
reviewing after a year of using the product. i bought the 3.2 cup set of 5 containers. some of the containers cracked (see pictures) about 6 months after i started using them.i didn't realize how small they would be for my requirements. the problem is that lid presses into the container, and so takes up some space. while this is itself is not a bad design, it does become problematic every time you try to adjust the amount of food you store in the container without knowing whether or not it would fit properly. the product is advertised as microwave-safe, but over the course of using them, i didn't have much confidence in heating up food in these containers. and just as i suspected, they started cracking a few months after i started using them. i should have bought glass containers instead, even if they're a bit more expensive.not all is bad, however. these little containers are good if you want to use them just to store some food that you don't intended to heat or warm up, like fruits or snacks or anything light-weight. the lids do make a really good seal once closed.
loved these containers when i first got them just over a year ago. now the last of them is heading for the trash. the issue is that they crack down the entire side basically rendering them useless unless you don’t mind your lunch or leftovers leaking out on you.for all 3 to break the same way tells me there is a design flaw in these containers.the search is on for something better.
i bought 2 of these from a big box store. after 3 months of use, i was very pleased and got 3 more from another store. i would always dishwash them, top rack. after about 6 months, they started to become brittle and random cracks showed. maybe from drops, maybe just from use. most cracks and chips showed in the lids.... which then makes them have sharp edges and does not become leak proof anymore. i will not buy these again
the plastic of the containers is falling part, several of the units are exhibiting large cracks around the base where it starts to curve up, this is causing me concern in regards to the amount of microplastics that are leaching into my foods.
i've bought 2 sets of these, one set for my daughter and the other for my house. because i love rubbermaid products... they say freezer, dishwasher and microwaveable... they are not!! i now no longer have any of the 2nd bigger pieces left... they crack and break.. ny daughter only has half left.. these are not worth the purchase!! i'm so disappointed!!!
i can usually trust a review from america's test kitchen (atk) which advertised these containers as a good buy last black friday/cyber monday shopping season. perhaps they meant, good bye, as in, let these go. we don't microwave these containers or expose them to any kind of thermal shock. we do put them in the dishwasher, but not on heat dry. we are seeing cracks and cloudiness already, and have broken the edge on one of the tops, as they often seal so tight, they are difficult to remove. while the containers stack neatly, the tops fall all over because of the side clips. i'll be surprised if they make it to next thanksgiving. if this is best-in-class for storage containers, then i guess i'm going back to good ole aluminum foil. you have one job, rubbermaid.... one job!
they’re strong and sturdy and are truly leak proof. the closing system makes an impressively secure seal. unfortunately the secure seal is almost impossible to open. i ended up cracking the bottom part on two of them because the system is so air-tight. impressive but ultimately a waste of money.
the size and stacking and clasps are great. the vent holes are nice. the heat resistance is a lie. you should not put these in dishwasher, too hot food in it before cooled/rested, or used in microwave. they can be, but will quickly show hairline cracks mainly in the center weakening it at its weak spot.
i liked this product for the ease of going from the fridge to the microwave to the dishwasher. i especially liked the snap seals that you open to microwave and not have to worry about splatters. but after several of the containers cracked, i reached out to rubbermaid customer support. this is what they told me: when heating the containers in the microwave they should only be heating in 30 second intervals and then stir. repeat this process until the food reaches your desired temperature. we do not recommend that you reheat foods high in fats, salt or sugar. and if you eat from them you should only use plastic, wooden or rubber utensils.
loved these at first still like them but i have had multiple of them crack with just regular use. my oldest ones of these are 3 years old so unfortunately not as durable as other rubbermaid storage containers.
i got a bunch of these at costco. while they are definitely great when new they all eventually will crack. the kids are usually fine but the body of the container will crack in time. i hand wash everything as i don't have a dishwasher but i did microwave in them from time to time.personally i would go with a glass bottom storage container in the future.
i was using these on a daily basis last year and they're all gone. every last one i have owned have cracked in various spots whether it's on the lid or the base.now my dishwasher has been broken for a long time so i have handwashed these items from day one, i do put them in the microwave, but never with the lid attached, the product is supposed to be microwave safe so i was definitely within average use when doing so. and lastly, i have never dropped these containers, they've never been on anything but the kitchen counter, on my car seat in transit to and from work, and on the lunchroom tables yet they somehow still managed to crack.it baffles me as to what causes this and i will not be spending any more time or money trying them out and hoping they won't crack when in use. i really wanted to like these, i used them all the time a few years ago and never had a single problem, so something must have changed in the quality of the manufacturing process between then and now. i'd definitely recommend purchasing something else.
purchased in november, and loved the look. we use them weekly for meal prep, and the large ones for leftovers usually.i've now had three crack on me through normal usage. carry to/fro work, in a padded lunch box... we was in dishwasher, but they're allegedly dishwasher safe. you'd think for $100 on tupperware i wouldn't have these issuesdo not recommend, purchase glass ones instead. rubbermaid has clearly decided to cut corners and raise their prices to deliver to their shareholders instead of making quality products
we've been buying these for awhile but find we have to replace them often because they crack very easily. as a result, i can't put anything with liquids in there after a while.the seal is pretty good but i find that when i do put liquids in there (when there are no cracks), they will spill in my lunchbox.
honestly, i loved this set up until the containers started cracking. the dividers are helpful, the containers don’t leak, and they keep my food fresh.unfortunately, with less than 9 months of rotating use between the 3 containers, 2 of the containers already cracked. i was extremely disappointed given the price. now i have 2 extra lids if anyone wants them…
good at firt! but crack and break after a few uses. i am very careful not to even put them to the dishwasher! only one person uses these and no matter how careful we are with them and dont put them into the dishwasher as stated or into the microwave, they havent fallen etc but are cracked and no longer can use them!
