this is junk. i hiked 50 miles with this strapped to my pack on a camping trip and it never charged up. secondly, it says it's 25000 mah, but after charging up my phone one night, it was all but depleted.this, along with a follower weather radio and usb headlights all failed me on this trip. if you want products you can trust, spend more i guess. i expected all of these cheap amazon products to at least last me this trip, they barely made it through the first night.
i will say it charges pretty slow ( i’m in the pnw but the sunny part if you can believe there is a spot like that). the weight is heavy compared to high end battery solar chargers but i wanted to try it out compared to one i got at rei. the good news is that it charged just as good as the more expensive one. the amount of batter is similar and the charging speed from battery to device is similar. the down side and differences is weight and speed of solar battery charge. i will actually be keeping this for a back up and if any friends need to borrow a solar charger.
i used this on a camping trip where we couldn’t park our cars next to the site. using it fully charged from the car was great but when i needed it to solar charge it didn’t.
this product is what it says it is, but does not excel at any function of it's potential.the device itself charges the internal batteries achingly slowly and for no reason that i can fathom. i have a much older power brick with 4x it's capacity that can charge to full in half the time this can.the solar charging takes longer but that's not unexpected. it charges at a respectable rate for a solar pannel of this size.it's capacity is modest and likely (it feels like but i havent really tested it) a lot less then advertised.it discharges to other devices slowly as well, 2.5 hours to charge a galaxy s20 era device to capacity from about 15%. that's way too slow. that charge rate is easily nullified by just running a music app or watching youtube while trying to charge it.it's totally worth having because it can charge a device in an emergency situation without any source of power. on top of that it's portable. ideal for long hiking trips where an emergency contact may be required. i am going to keep looking for a better performance option however.
i tried charging my ipad with this and it completely drained the battery. i have different , much smaller, back up battery that fully charged my ipad and has a little juice still left in it. i was hoping for at least 2 charges from this 25000 mah battery but no dice. it’s also slow to charge but that wasn’t completely unexpected give the size of the panels. last there is no cord or strap to hang this thing, turns out that’s a big design flaw.
im not exactly sure when i bought this solar charger. but it was a decent charger. i kept it in my glove box of my truck. i recently pulled it out and noticed that the case for the charger was split open. at first i thought it had been dropped and the case broke open. but it was the batteries inside that had started to swell and broke the case open from the inside out. i wish i had thought of taking a picture of it before theowing it away. so i could post it. im not sure why it did that. the only thing i can think of is the changing of temperatures from being in my truck. from hot to cold hot to cold. so if you buy this dont keep it in your vehicle.. they advertise it for out doors. but i dont think its meant for long term. i kept it in my truck for emergency purposes. but think im going to have to look for something more durable. for long term temperature changes.
i have tried form weeks to use this to charge my tablet. i left it in direct sun light to no avail. i wont even reach a full charge of the internal battery. look at other products before you buy this one.
while this did charge what we needed on camping trips it didn’t not charge at all sitting in direct sunlight. had to recharge it off of my truck which just wasn’t ideal.
my item was not charging in the sunin jamaica where we had no lightso i could not use i returned from jamaica august 11th and i did not use this product - i need to exchange or return !!!
imagine a solar panel product that breaks in direct sunlight. i can’t tell for sure because the space under the solar panel is so small but i think the battery is actually swollen, which is the reason for the bulge. either way it can’t be safe. the product only gets two stars because i got about a year of use out of it before this happened.
would not fully recharge in full sunlight for 15+ hours, even when it was only pulled down 2 of 5 bars on the meter. never dropped or damaged, yet the housing separated and is all but useless now. i bought this for one trip to yukon and hoped it could be relied on in an emergency. overall doesn’t make the cut, at any price.
so disappointed ☹️, there is nothing solar about this unit, it’s all electric charging which by the way takes the whole day to charge this unit. if there is anything better out there let me know.
i like the idea, but it does not easily change. i’m actually still trying to figure out how to make it charge since i missed out on the return time frame
charge all day in full sun for ~45 minutes of phone charging. bright idea to set up in windshield and collect sun all day at work... device panel popped out and externally hot to touch making me believe it overheated (in the sun) and would catch fire. not worth money, time, or effort.
