no remote controller. shoddy wifi instructions. difficulty connecting. and when i connected and started setting up the lights it was okay but then i noticed the worst flaw. the led light density was downright miserably low. even for cheap brands. i bought these to replace my day better lights that broke after 3 years of use. saw they were wifi, and usually of higher quality. that seemed to be a lie. especially considering the daybetter ones were 20 bucks and these retail for more than triple that. they're not brighter, nor more dense. it fails in both aspects that you want. what's worse is the rolls of lights cannot be detached from the switch they're connected to. making it a worse user experience in laying out the lights than a cheaper brand. it's more cumbersome and fails in all the metrics compared to cheaper brands, yet it's got a premium price tag. save your money. but any other brand of led light strips you'll be better off. wildly disappointed.picture 1 is the govee lights with their density. picture 2 are the cheapo lights i already had.
i love govee and have many of their lighting products that i love. however this line of light strips has been a nightmare to work with. i bought one set and it came defective with some lights not turning completely white. then i tried with another and half the roll stopped working after 1 day. govee makes other light strips that are more reliable. avoid these.
i purchased and tested many different brands of led lighting strips. i found that i liked govee led strips more than the other brands, both for their superior app, as well as the ease at integrating with wifi and google home assistant. i purchased a govee set to use in our living room as an uplight, and it worked great! i decided to purchase another set of these, but this time i would purchase the longer, 100' set, and that is where everything fell apart.the 100' set is comprised of two, hardwired sets of 50' strands. the controller is in the middle, so you cannot run a continuous 100' length. you also have to be very creative with how you run the lights, since the controller is always attached, making it more difficult to run the led strips while also trying to hide/disguise the wires.all of that was a pain, but the real issue with these is they are half as bright as the same, shorter set of govee strips. after installing my 100' govee led strips, i noticed they were not nearly as bright as my original 32.8' set. when i compared them side-by-side, i discovered the 100' set had half as many leds per foot as the 32.8' set.no where does the marketing indicate the brightness is going to be lower when you increase the length. why would they? who in their right mind says, you know what is better than this 50' led strip? a 100' led strip that is half as bright!i am returning mine.
the lights flicker horribly,not sure if it's the power supply, even when turned off some lights stay on slightly illuminated in some areas. i love the functionality with alexa and have other govee products, these would be great if they dident flicker.
i was a little thrown off when i opened up this package to see the box stating that it was a rbgic basic light set. when looking at the pictures of the stock photo of the product the space between the govee and leds and the size of the leds seem to be much different then the actual. i included a comparison photo between the two.the brightness of these lights also seems a bit weaker then other sets purchased. in darkness i feel my 32ft rgb light strip would put off more light than this 64 ft one. i do really like the that this strip is rgb ic which is why i upgraded but i think i'm going to return this light set and try another one.
one side cannot get the same temperature white as the other. so, i have half a pure white display and half a very off-white display. this also impacts brightness, making one side dimmer than the other. i realize my application is probably not ideal (under shelf for a lego display,) but the inconsistency doesn't help at all.aside from that, they are pretty great and are a good bang for buck. (did not use the strip adhesive, so cannot really judge that, and integrated with my google home very easily)
i have no clue if i am the unlucky winner of getting the worst set of led’s that this company has to offer or if this is normal. i have the 100ft led lights and i can tell you right now i have to look for a replacement set these suck horribly not only the farther you get from the power source the weaker the led become but they’re colors are not even the same i have the lights set to white and on the left side of the room everything is blue and on the right sight it’s green tinted i am extremely disappointed in these lights and i just wasted my afternoon puttting these up exactly how instructed for not reason and now i have to take them off i have a set of govee lights in my bedroom and they are extremely bright and 10/10 but these right here i would have never bought in the first place if i knew they would be this bad
cool app and features, however, the lights dim and change color the further down the strip it goes/further from power source. also when not 75%+ on brightness they flicker no matter the color. returning for refund.
so, the features of these lights are really good. i like the segmented light sections, i like the density of the lights, and i like the music features. however, there are some big issues with them that definitely hamper my enjoyment.first, both 50ft rolls are set up in parallel to each other on the power connector with no way to change that without cutting and soldering. this means that you need to put the main controller in an awkward position between wherever you want the 100 feet to be, instead of allowing one big strip. however, even if i did cut and solder them, i don't think that it would help, as follows:my second and more major point is the fact that the lights just can't maintain their brightness.throughout the strip. i attached a photo of the strip. the strip running downward is the start of the light strip, and the strip running horizontal is the same strip but like 30 feet later. there is a massive color difference between them. i would expect that for led strips this expensive, i would receive a much higher quality product that actually looks good the whole way through. this issue makes the white mode particularly annoying to use. the start of the strip is a cold white, and the end is a warm almost yellow color. that's just not what i want to see in a strip light.
this is the hundred foot one the lights near the end of the strand are not as bright the leds are more spaced out thus making some of the scenes and colors not as vibrant as the other sizes. both strands hooked directly to switch unit
they spliced several areas and none of the lights match in brightness or even color. now they are stuck ton the ceiling and im supposed to send back for new ones? lol
i had bought 2 100 ft led lights and after 33 days later the lights started to malfunction and started to flicker when i would change the brightness setting to 50% on a 1 color mode on. both of my lights malfunctioned and now i can’t get my money back because it’s past 30 days to return to amazon. i really love the different effects but the malfunction of flickering of the light is driving me crazy. as much as i want to these lights to work i simply can’t recommend them due to them malfunctioning.
i do like that you can control segments and create a variety of color schemes. they’re not the brightest kit i’ve owned and that can be frustrating. there is no remote for this kit and the manual module that they strips route through is cheaply made and not the most intuitive controller. the app’s user interface is confusing. i’m considering taking them down and ordering another brand.
i really love the govee line of products. the app is easy to use and sync all your devices.i am slightly disappointed with the rgbic strips though as they are not very bright at all. i have them double stacked (two rows beside each other) in a 70 inch shelf and it still barely puts enough light off for my liking. the diodes are not very bright, and to boot are spaced very far apart. wish they were a better quality diode and narrower spacing. was going to use these in 3 or 4 projects but have to look for something else instead.
sent these back, unfortunately they are not bright enough to work under a kitchen cabinet for food prep. i took ages to pull the trigger, but sadly they had to go back
like another review mentioned the spacing between the leds is significantly more versus the 32 ft govee lights i own. so even though these are 100 ft the 32 ft appear brighter which ultimately make these feel cheap. some of the lights are also discolored on the ends furthest away from the power source. they’re always lighter in color then the rest of the strips. other than that they’re solid leds and i’m happy i can control them with my google home.
you can see the voltage can’t reach the end of the 25ft portion of the strip on plain white at 100%. it also flickers slightly when you dim the strip. still is a fun led strip but get the shorter length strips if you want your colors and brightness to be uniform across all the led’s
i love these lights. way better than just your basic rgb but the colors are inconsistent with some diodes having a stronger green or stronger red and is especially visible when setting the strip to white. i am afraid that they will get worse over time
