this keyboard works fine when connected. this is a usb powered keyboard and has illuminated keys. it has recently developed a connection problem whenever i move it around. i continually have to unplug the usb cord, and then reconnect it in order for the keyboard to function. the company (magegee) is not helpful with this. after reporting the problem to them, they advise me to contact amazon about it, since it is still under warranty. amazon only offers me an automated chat session which does not allow me to explain anything.
shouldn’t ever disconnect because it’s wired… but it does. completely stops responding and has to be unplugged/replugged to work again. not sure why it happens and it’s sad because the blue keys are nice and clicky. brightness isn’t great and the contrast of the gray keys is also lacking. ended up keeping the keys themselves and trashing the keyboard.
since the first week, the keyboard started becoming unresponsive. the only way to get it working again is to unplug and reconnect the usb cable. this happens randomly several times a day, making it impossible to work with.
my main issue with this is that the keyboard will become unresponsive, i’ve had this happen 3 times now. the backlight is on but they keys are unresponsive. i have to unplug the keyboard and plug it in again to get it to work. 1st disconnect was a week after use. the next 2 we’re on the same day 2 weeks after use.the keyboard works good, one thing to know is that the keys do not come how they are shown in the photo. i ordered the black/white with orange keys. when received it was black/white and you have to pop the keys in yourself, not an issue just wasn’t mentioned before buying.4th month now using the keyboard and it now consistently disconnects, i have to unplug it and plug it back on only for it to shut off within the next couple of seconds or minutes. i have tried different usb ports but that doesn’t help. i’m using my old keyboard now because this one is just an annoyance now.
keys seems to have a hair trigger, i got used to that. now the usb connection is continuously disconnecting. this conveniently started happening after my return window ended. another product designed to fail right after consumer protection ends. would not buy from this manufacturer again.
i did like this product for its price i personally think it is amazing but if you’re looking for long-term, i would suggest a different keyboard. this one is very loud and sometimes randomly disconnects but if you’re looking for a cheap keyboard i would suggest this.
this keyboard sucks. plain and simple. it stops working couple times a day out of nowhere. the lights are still on but keys are unresponsive. so you have to disconnect and plug back in. it can get pretty annoying. i've had better luck with cheaper keyboards. would not buy this again
bought this keyboard not so long ago and already having it dying on me. as some comment stated, it’s a good beginner to mechanical keyboard but this just doesn’t last long at all. for my issue is when i’m simple playing games, the keyboard would just disconnect by itself therefore i would have to unplug the keyboard multiple times just to get it connected again and continue playing. just to note the wire isn’t frail or stripped, just shuts down on me.
keyboard becomes unresponsive after not using for a few minutes. every youtube video i watch or any time i go to the kitchen for 5 minutes and come back, i have to unplug and plug back in the keyboard. pretty annoying. also only came with 1 extra key.
i disliked the lighting issue as the lighting makes it cool for those wondering there is no software and also the letters and number and other symbols on the keyboard doesn't light up fully there are difrent modes, and i liked how it came with a keycap puller it is not hot-swappable and the main feature i don't like is that i don't know if this only happens with my one but it randomly disconnects but to fix this re-plug it i wouldn't recommend this keyboard as there many better options for only 5 extra the clicks on the keyboard sounds satisfying on the blue switches though
had it for about a week. was very impressed with the quality for the price, it was nice and clicky. if felt sort of cheap but what do you really want for $25? no complaints there.what ultimately made me return it is that the thing would randomly disconnect while i wasn't using it, so i would come back after a short period of time (sometimes with a game running on pause) and the keyboard would be non responsive. the lights were still lit up but nothing would happen. unplugging it and plugging it back in worked just fine to restart it but it happened at least 4 times in a week and i don't have time for a keyboard to keep doing that on me.maybe it will work for you. it's certainly worth a try for $25, but it wasn't for me.
it was good while it lasted, now it disconnects at random. once in a while a windows pop-up will say that a device malfunctioned, then the keyboard will stop working. tried different usb-c cables and the same issue persist.
i wish i could give this a stellar review, but i can't. in fact, i won't recommend any magegee product any more. i got this because i bought a full size keyboard from this company, and after a few months, the e key kept double-keying, making it almost useless to someone who writes on their computer. i will say this, the company were very gracious and refunded me the cost even though it was past the refund limit. i do think they are run by nice people.the problem is, i bought this to replace that one, and it just stopped working all the time. looking around for an answer, i found that a lot of people had good results by replacing the usb cable. i tried that and it seemed to help. the problem is that the actual problem is not the cable, it's the usb interface. it breaks communication with your pc all the time. if you use a good cable, it will re-establish the connection so quick, you won't notice it, but that still leaves a problem for me. i use a digital kvm, (keyboard, video, mouse) to use one keyboard and mouse between two different systems. i've never had a problem using it with any keyboard i plugged in. with the magegee, when it drops connection, even for a millisecond, when it reasserts the connection, the keyboard and mouse drop back to the host computer, even if you were using the client computer at the time. as someone who types a lot, it is a miserable failure when, without your noticing it, your cursor goes to the wrong computer while you are typing, and your text disappears, because the machine you are typing on doesn't even have an input box open. if you were using this while gaming, you'd tear your hair out.i get that this is a problem most users won't have, but it is a problem some people will have. if you are doing it and managing servers, it's useless. if you are just using the one system, it should be fine, but i wouldn't recommend you buy a dog with a twisted stomach, or a keyboard with a known flaw in it. you don't know how it will affect you, and whether it will only degrade worse over time.two keyboards, two major flaws, i'm not a customer any more. sorry, magegee.
good item for the first month. but as soon as the amazon return window is over, the keyboard started having problems. essentially, if i need the computer for a few minutes and don't touch the keyboard, it stops responding. if i watch a video for a few minutes in full screen, it loses connection too. i would have to unplug and plug it back in. when i contacted magegee about it for warranty and support, it says please contact the seller directly for warranty information for this product. you may also be able to find warranty information on the manufacturer’s website. i contact magegee via email. they tell me to figure it out via amazon. i guess i learned a lesson here. there is a reason why these are cheap cause they start having issues in less than 2 months.
